First of all, @Sean Chapin and I are so grateful for the amount of downloads and listens we have had over the first 7-8 weeks of this journey. When I met Sean through the process of the Fan of the Week articles, I didn't know quick we would hit it off and come up with this idea. 700+ listens later, we took a look back at how to improve our content. The main themes we heard were:
Shorter episodes (Under an hour max)
Less guests (This actually surprised us)

I've repeatedly said that I'm not going to stop watching the Cubs. After many hours of thought and meditation, I've made a decision that should not be an example to anyone because it is unique to my situation. I told you that after the offseason, I would give you the story of the decade. To those of you who are shallow, the events of last night in the game versus the Rangers will be that story. But to those of you with depth and concern, the real story will be what I hope and pray results from t

Here it is! The first episode of Bricks Behind The Ivy. Thank you to my wife for taking the kids extra while I figured out recording and set-up. Also, thank you Sean for being patient with me while I learned the ropes.
With out further adieu, enjoy!
Putting yourself out there can be really hard. I have talked so much about the Cubs with my peers, but I have not yet exposed those view points largely with the masses. As an Irish-Catholic people pleaser with a high end function of empathy, I worry about this new path.
I constantly have imposter syndrome, along with re-assessing the branding and content. I know our audience will be able to give us some of that information through analytics. I feel that getting the first one under t
I love the Cubs. So much. Writing for Northside baseball has been such a joy. I am never positive how well I reach our audience, but I love the feeling of contributing to this big universe of Cub content that I spend so much time consuming.
However, I have always wanted to try doing a podcast. I have played around with Tik-Tok to get a feel of what short form content would feel like, along with practicing my pacing and information.
Then I met Sean through the Fan Feature proces
I am excited to announce the beginning of a new passion project. This will be a weekly podcast discussing the latest Cubs News, results, and opinions shared by me and HotStoveCubbies. Stay tuned for formal details coming soon!
For those attending Cubs Con, those thinking about attending Cubs Con, and maybe even for those who would like to attend Cubs Con but live in Alabama (oh wait.. that's just me), the Cubs just released a cool new app to help navigate the festivities.
As of now it appears to only be available via iOS, but I would have to assume that it will be dropped for Android soon.

Earlier today on Twitter, the MLB Trade Rumors account retweeted a post from someone who noted that exactly half of the 50 top Free Agents have been signed so far this off-season.
Basically, they noted that 5 of the top 10, 10 of the top 20, 15 of the top 30, and 27 of the top 50 free agents remain unsigned. Free agency has hit the midway point. It should be pointed out that in the short time since that note was posted that the number 36 player on that list, Harrison Bader, has come of

Every diehard Chicago Cubs fan remember the famous phrase, “Let’s Play Two,” from Ernie Banks that he used jokingly on a 100-degree day at Wrigley field when they were set to play a game in 1969. The Cubs were so tired from the heat not even hours before the game they had t

A disappointing finish to the 2023 season indeed, however, a bright future ahead for the Cubbie Blues. Finishing second in the National League Central and it was a positive season all in all as they posted their best 162-game regular season record since 2018, but not enough
The 2015 Cubs needed a frontline starter. They had an emergent Jake Arrieta(a former 5th rounder finally come good), some depth via FA in Jason Hammel, and the first full season of Kyle Hendricks(a command over stuff prospect) to look forward to. They needed another rotation anchor, and they got it in Jon Lester, a 31 year old FA known for his durability, playoff pedigree, and high floor with potential ace ceiling.
The parallels to the 2024 Cubs can be overfitted but are still interesting
There's a ton of chatter about the MLB postseason format and while I think it's blowing current issues out of proportion - we have all of two years of data from which to draw - I believe there is some merit to the criticisms. There's a relatively easy fix, though, and it can actually reduce the length of the postseason by a day should MLB wish to take that route.
First, there are complaints about the number of teams in the postseason. I rather strongly disagree with this take; as a fan of m
If there's one milestone marker that Cubs fans have become increasingly aware of in each of the last three years, it is the MLB Trade Deadline. Since Jed Hoyer has taken over the reigns as the President of Baseball Operations from Theo Epstein in 2021, it has become the doomsday clock for the roster. In the previous two seasons, the writing had been on the wall. Jed's first two seasons led to selling off once none of the core of the 2016 World Series championship roster was able to reach extensi
A few people have asked about traffic and I wanted to give a quick update on site activity. The site re-launched on March 26th of this year and all data goes through yesterday, June 21st. Some of these numbers might not look that impressive but keep in mind that for 11 days in early May, we lost the NSBB domain. Two of those days had zero traffic and nine more had roughly 50% normal traffic while we fought to regain control of the primary domain from an unresponsive domain registrar.
