  1. MURTON BATTING IN THE 2 HOLE....WHEEEEEE I really like that lineup a LOT (edit..Maybe put Marquis ahead of Izturis)
  2. That would be fun on so many levels....I think he'd be a great owner.
  3. In a rational world, those concerns would have begun the minute they named Looper as their #4 starter. Yeah, but this is St. Louis...there is still scattered talk of Rick Ankiel winning 15 games this year.
  4. I wonder if this is any indication that they're already having concerns about having Braden Looper as their #4 starter...
  5. Below is a response from Charter communications re: MLB-EI after I had asked a question as to its availablity this year....doesn't really say much at all... Jacqueline: Thank you for waiting, We don't have any information yet about the avalibility, the kick off date last year was April 3rd you are going to have to check back mid way through March for more information. Moorecg: Thank you. I know that the cable companies are currently negotiating with MLB and there are discussions about this service going exclusively to DirecTV...please inform whomever appropriate at Charter that customers really want to keep this package available. Jacqueline: Charter is aware, did you have any further questions for me today ? Moorecg: No, thank you for your support.
  6. this article might be interesting to you. I hope he's right. http://money.cnn.com/2007/02/26/commentary/sportsbiz/ I like the way this guy is thinking...I also hope he's right.
  7. Kerry looks angry, Lilly and Hill look...surprised? Confused? Constipated? I thought the picture of Hill looked an awful lot like a picture of Lilly.
  8. Has anyone heard anything definitive on this recently? I've still seen no MLB/DirecTV press release saying this HAS happened...just a lot of talk that is probably is going to happen...we're coming up on the first spring training game...you'd think this would be getting nailed down soon.
  9. Baseball beat on XM says they'll have it "momentarily"
  10. Picture Day!! One of my favorite days...who comes out with the goofiest looking head shot this year? Maddux is gone....I'm gonna go with....Blanco...followed by Ohman and Marshall.
  11. Not really... http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060224&content_id=1321928&vkey=spt2006news&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc yeah, but that article had a picture of Wood throwing...and just a "Rothschild said" when speaking of Prior..... just trying to be positive....someties its hard.
  12. We actually have seen pictures of him throwing a baseball this year, which is a step up from years past if I remember correctly.
  13. Cable never had Sunday Ticket. I can't speak for all cable companies, but I got it on cable in the late 90s. I'm not saying your wrong...just that I used to sell DirecTV at the electronics store I worked at in College and to my knowledge Sunday Ticket originated with DirecTV and has always been exclusive to that sattelite provider...not sure how you could ever have gotten it on cable.
  14. Ugh...remember 2004. Kerry and Mark each holding flaming baseballs? That worked out well for us.
  15. Jones in the 2 hole is not awful. He'd surely see a TON of pitches in between Soriano and Lee...LaRussa puts that kind of guy in the 2 hole down here quite a bit and it seems to work out...I'd say Chris Duncan saw the majority of his at bats there and he did very well until the pitchers figured him out in August/Sept.
  16. Wait a second...that's Mark Prior...on a pitching mound...in February....is this dated 2003?
  17. Amen. Cowherd is the WORST in radio. He makes Rome tolerable. qft
  18. Look. Photographic PROOF that both arms are attached. This is progress for Prior this time of year!
  19. I wouldn't be that surprised with top 10 in OBP. I would be with top 10 in walks. The team is a good hitting for average team. And they could lead the league in that stat. It wouldn't take an enormous increase in walks to crack the top 10 in OBP. And unfortunatly, cracking the top 10 in the NL doesn't even put us in the top 1/2 of the league. If we could sneek into the top 6-8 and be "above average" in OBP, we'd have something going.
  20. I kind of like the Yankees rule...not that I have anything against long hair, but I think it promotes a "team first" attitude, and not such a "me first" stance that a lot of guys have these days...I wouldn't be upset of the Cubs adopted it. (now ducks and covers waiting to get flammed)
  21. Z Hill Lilly Prior Miller Marquis becomes a long man. My guess is that someone (Marquis, Hill, Prior, or Miller) will get traded for a SS who can hit at the end of July. If they're all healthy, to begin the season Miller makes the most sense there...I don't think you can trade marquis till June or so since we just signed him...
  22. Are there any this year? If so, when are they? I know they have had a couple in the past...i'm going to be there the first week of April...it would be a blast if I could catch one.
  23. I'll edit it as soon as there really are pictures....I started this thread last year and it had over 10K hits...it may have that many before we even get a picture this year.
  24. When's photo day? I'd assume after the position players officially have to report. I'm just amazed we haven't seen ANY Cubs pictures yet...this is pathetic.
