  1. Have you heard about this almost completed deal? The Cubs send Boston Corey Patterson, Todd Wellemeyer, and a player to be named for Manny Ramirez and an unknown quantity of cash. In a related rumour, Jose Macias was recently traded to the Florida Marlins for a six-pack and a bucket of balls.
  2. Dellucci is no more of a leadoff option than Walker, and if they wouldn't use Todd there, why would they use double D's there? He's also not the impact corner OF bat I would be looking for, given the current lineup. Fix holes elsewhere, and he's fine for a role player. But Dellucci is not enough to fix the problems with this lineup. Gooney, Actually, I believe that Delluci has better OBP numbers than walker does, plus he's a might faster than a Todd Walker (even tho he doesn't steal tons of bases). As for being enough to fix the problems with the lineup, I never claimed that Delluci could do that alone. But he would be a valid option in either centerfield or rightfield IMO. Plus, he could be had fairly cheaply in terms of price and prospects. Texas is always dying for pitching. Send them one or two middle of the road pitching prospects, and they'd send us their (so called) 4th outfielder in a hurry. I really think this Delluci can contribute.
  3. I could see them having interest in guys like Williams, Mitre, Novoa, Wuertz and Ohman. I would give them Williams and Novoa along with some prospects, if they took on enough cash so that the Cubs owed only $14m per year. Gooney, I like where you're coming from there, but if Hendry sent Williams, Novoa, and a prospect or two.... I think Boston would be so ectatic that they'd be willing to swallow an even larger portion of Ramirez's salary. Hendry is a pretty good negotiator. Manny might be had for less.
  4. It still seems like a match to me. Boston's weakness over the recent years has been pitching, and the Cubs could send a passable reliever or even a starter (assuming Williams is available for trade). But then again, hearing a Cardinal fan argue against the Cubs making a trade isn't really that surprising. I'm curious what people have to say concerning David Delluci. He'd be a fairly, cheap obtainable, leadoff man. Sure, Manny is the big name, but I believe Delluci has something to offer the Cubs should he become available in a trade.
  5. Is_Pedro, I think the cost to the farm system would be totally in Hendry's court. It would depend on how much of Manny Ramirez's contract the Cubs would end up paying. If the Cubs include any stud minor leaguers, Boston would probably pay more of his salary, and vice versa, a package of chump minor leaguers would probably mean a higher overall price tag on Manny's contract.
  6. Well, Manny has been trying to get out of Boston for the last couple of years. I don't know how he feels about Chicago, but David Ortiz told reporters that Manny won't be returning to Boston this season. That makes a trade of Manny seem pretty likely to me. And how many teams can even begin to look at Ramirez's contract. Surely Boston would add some cash to an prospective trade deal, but nearly all of the teams simply cannot afford the slugger. The only one that could afford him easily is the Yankees, and we all know that Boston isn't going to send ANY good players to New York.
  7. The subject of Juan Pierre has been talked to death, but I believe that there are many outfield trade possibilities for Jim Hendry. What are your thoughts on Manny Ramirez and Devid Delluci?
  8. Tim... When the wizard says his name in the movie it almost sounds like he's asking a question. His best part is when he's describing the monster and says "Look at the bones, man!" in trying to impinge caution on the knights when they see the supposedly "harmless little bunny rabbit" Also, I've noticed a while lot of heaped praises on you for creating the site and doing a great job maintaining it and such. Aren't you getting a bit tired of the constant compliments by now? I know I would be if it were me. I mean after all that licking... your boots have to be clean by now. heh. Besides, shouldn't we expect good work from SanClementeFan.. to expect less would be an insult. L8rs... come visit the WarZone.
  9. Some of you might know me from a different board of which I posted 4 or 5 years. But most of you probably have no idea who that Tehmpus character is. heh
