  1. Kettridge, Rea, Rogers, Pomeranz, Civale, Brasier. For example.
  2. It’s over. We had the better defense and position players, but needed a more dominant pitching staff and more clutch hitting. The game fell the Brewers way tonight.
  3. Then give him a take sign until Uribe throws a strike. He looked wild.
  4. Did our pitchers lose focus. With 2 outs? Or just made bad pitches that had too much of the plate?
  5. Kelly and Shaw strike outs were brutal, swinging at balls way out of the zone. Should we have pinched hit with Ballesteros?
  6. Happ taking a strike 3 did not help either. He is batting 5 th with a .100 average this series, not good.
  7. Should have Tucker bunted against the lefty then? We would have had a run with Susuki deep drive..
  8. Hanging slider in the middle of the plate? Two bad gopher balls tonight. We needed another top starting pitcher for this series. At least we have a juiced ball this season. Home runs are going out all over the place.
  9. Turned out that the we paid too high a price for the Tucker rental.
  10. Assad should have been in the rotation of this Brewers series. He could not have been worse than Imanaga’s home run giving machine. While I am at it, Happ should be hitting lower in the lineup, and Busch should be starting in all games even against left handed pitchers. Too many dingers to leave on the table. Counsell is too in love with lefty righty matchups regardless. IMO.
  11. Gopher balls in a post season short series are killers, particularly in this season with a juiced ball and homers going out. Right and left. Cubs better start working on getting a strong starting pitcher for next season. Starting pitching is the Cubs Achilles Heel, with its elite defense and offense.
  12. Not the best lineup with Happ batting third. 0 for 9 in the series with 6 strike outs so far. A rally killer.
  13. Still, regardless it would have been better not to send Nico in with only one out, and Susuki coming up with the bases loaded and one out in that scenario. IMO.
  14. Yes, they did. Takes a little pressure off…
  15. Tucker, Walsh and PCA all out at the same time, leaves too big a hole in the lineup. We need to start hitting Walsh and PCA against lefties, as their replacements are worse. Particularly closers,
  16. I take my chances with PCA hitting against a left handed pitcher than Turner, who has pinched hit for PCA.
  17. Time to insert Keller as closer. It is hard to generate offense with Turner, Santana and Alcantara in the lineup at the same time.
  18. I take my chances on a 102 mph flame thrower closer than with a contact hitter reliever.
