With a 1.5-game lead over the Brewers in the NL Central standings, the Cubs need to continue to play winning baseball. They can’t discount the Brewers, who can sneak up in the standings and give the Cubs a run for their money. The Cubs have a winning team but can’t play sloppy baseball and make base-running mistakes like Ian Happ did against the Cardinals in Thursday’s game. Mistakes like that will come back to haunt the Cubs.
