  1. I am irrationally annoyed that the first TD to Moore is officially a 19-yard DOT and will not count on Williams' 20+ stats that everyone has been citing. It sure looked like 20 to me.
  2. Everyone's talking about the play where Shelton is heard yelling at Williams "we got effing fire, man!" and Williams says "I know." So what that means is this. "fire" is a play where the defense brings a DB blitz and runs a 3-deep zone behind it. The nickelback on the weak side was creeping up to get into blitz position, that's what caused Shelton to yell the warning. The blitz came, Williams ball fakes but takes no drop at all and *immediately* shoots it off to Odunze on a quick outside route, wide open in a zone that only has 3 underneath. The blitzer was unblocked and would have destroyed Williams if he had taken a full drop or hitched in any way, but the ball was out so fast he was a non-entity. This is why the NFL is a QB league. This is what we've been begging to see for years. This is why "but there was an unblocked blitzer" is never an excuse for an NFL QB to not get the ball out.
  3. Pretending that fields had something to do with starting 3-0 is going to cause the Steelers to give those wins right back
  4. He already has more 300 yard passing games as a bear than Fields did
  5. The bad news is that was a jv squad out there. The Panthers are bad when healthy and barely have any healthy players left. The good news is that the magical Christmas land continues as we play the Jaguars, who have a terrible pass defense and have given up the third most points in the NFL
  6. Second week in a row he's lit up blitzes He really has gotten better every week. We've never had a rookie adapt like this
  7. This is bad stat usage and I know it but I'm gonna do it anyway: If Caleb Williams plays the rest of the season at his week 3-5 pace, he'd end up with 4103 passing yards
  8. Maybe I'll eat these words and they'll go on a run. Maybe we'll 0-2 them yet again this season. But gun to my head, I don't think the Packers look like a very good football team. They look extremely average with the downside to be worse. I think they get a lot of aura points for the jersey that makes us scared of them and pundits credit them, but if you swapped out the jersey and scouted their play, I don't think you'd come away impressed.
  9. Love just Will Levis'd
  10. Williams now on pace for 3709 yards
  11. Caleb Williams: rookie year, week 5 Mitch Trubisky: second year, week 10 Justin Fields: has not happened
  12. That's the first A game for Williams. NFL A, no curve. A+ for "rookie in his fifth game." The first series was ugly, but after that it was nothing but positives. He repeatedly manufactured easy plays for himself with line adjustments, which I think is a massive improvement over recent seasons. It makes the playcalling look smart, just like not doing it makes the playcalling look stupid. He took what the defense gave him both deep and shallow. When the deep shots were there, he hit them. When the underneath was there, he took it for free yards. And when there was nothing, he threw it away. He led five touchdown drives, honestly he's getting a little touchdown-vultured by our short yardage run game. Bears defense with 11 straight games of 21 points or fewer, most in the league. Bears with a league-leading 8 straight home wins.
  13. The replays showed Pryor's punch like four times and the announcers kept not seeing it
  14. Again, it'd be cool if we could pad Williams' stats with some of these one-yard touchdowns, but that doesn't actually mean anything. Let Bagent hand off to run it out
  15. gdi 300 was in Moore's hands wide open
  16. Browns defense is pretty good. Maybe they'll get figured out eventually, but right now Washington's offense looks legit.
  17. How long it took to get 2 career games with 250+ passing yards and 2+ passing TDs: Caleb Williams, week 5 of rookie year Mitch Trubisky: week 5 of second year Justin Fields: week 5 of third year
  18. They still get judged by their stats and production.
  19. That 2nd down throw looked more like an intentional throwaway on a play that was about to get blown up than a miscommunication. 32 yards to go
  20. It's about respect for your players. You can't make the entire locker room look bad and waste a year of their careers.
  21. 43 more yards and then I want Bagent time
  22. That's two phantom penalties
  23. (two more mid punts from Tory Taylor today)
