  1. Outside of 30,000 hockey fans in Chicago, who would recognize bedard's face on a milk carton?
  2. Real Chicago fans slug around in galoshes.
  3. Just thinking out loud or crying out loud? Outside of Caleb Williams, I can't think of another big fish in a big pond of Chicago within the entire sporting industry. And quite frankly, the bears failed miserably to capture the spotlight which could've revolved around what caleb might be. Sasaki has the opportunity with his decision, to OWN Chicago. He has the chance to BE Chicago. Right now, no Chicago team has any dominating personalty to capture the hearts of Chicago Fandom. He could make bababillions as a media darling. He would be the face of Chicago sporting news up until, if ever, the bears get their act together. It would be a major error in judgement by agent Wolfe and Sasaki to not realize the goldmine that has been untapped since the Jordan daze. Am I a little overboard? I think not. GitRdone Jed, Fer cripes sakes
  4. The Royals are looking at lorenzen qualifying as a 2 way player. Later on in the season this would give a possible advantage by allowing the Royals an extra pitcher over the roster pitcher restriction.
  5. I started hallucinating while drinking during the bears/pack game today. I imagined jed had signed Alex Bregman to a 2 year 60million with opt out. Jack Flaherity to a 2 year 44mil and Finnegan to a 2 year 15mil. This woud be my RULES of TWOS. And the more I drank, the more it seemed feasible Granted, if they looked playoff bound, financially, Tom would stand to capture $ from the postseason. If they looked like a bust at deadline time, jed starts parting out the roster to get below the luxury tax. Cubfans unite and drink with me.
  6. Goody goody, let's trade our A+ prospects for a guy who hasn't pitched since labor day 2023. Cue Tom ...
  7. Is this ogasawara posted on December 10 a viable option or a nothing burger without the works? BTW he's a lefty
  8. Took advantage of zona's flat tax
  9. Me thinks Stratos was confused when he used the word never or he wasn't sure about the term megadeal?
  10. Artificial intelligence. People are telling me (I think they're actually people) by 2029 AI will be involved in every little and big aspect of our lives. I guess we will be consuming soylent green and type 2 diabetes will be nonexistent.
  11. Thank bejesus Heyward was merely a spit in the ocean of contracts
  12. I too subscribed to sporting news back in the day and it was my Bible as far winter meetings and spring training info. Heck, I even listened to Bill veeck and mary (she was the star) on the radio in order to get my weekly baseball fix during the offseason.
  13. OMG. sports writing has reached absurdity. Someone writing for Sports Illustrated, which back in my youthful years was the pinnacle of sports news publications, suggested cubs trade for Bostons Yashida because cubs could use a designated hitter. The package going back would be hoerner and drew smiley. It was posted 3 hours ago / and somebody is getting paid for writing this?
  14. No worries on if Jed extends Tucker here. Jed will extend Tucker to a tremendously equitable deal beginning in season 2026. Because of the mlb player contract expiration at 2026 years end, jed probably already knows owners targets as well as players targets in a new collective agreement. Believe it, owners and management are not going into this blindly. Rest assured, jed has an idea what penalties if any, are being forecasted for future payrolls
  15. My hunch 2027 is quite possibly up for grabs. The 3 tier penalty program as written today, will probably be altered. None of the spending castrations will hold water as currently written. December 31 2026, The player association deal with mlb will cease to exist and the threat of a strike/work stoppage will be looming and it might lead to a new way mlb owners restrict their spending.
  16. Not sure if his glove is worth a shot, but would Kiki hernandez be a good option to be a super sub for Jed? He's played every position except catcher although not necessarily well?
  17. I love that Flaherty will be low cost. Makes sense for jed to sign him. 🤔
  18. Interesting lorenzen agent is trying to market him as a 2-way player, similar to ohtani, Thusly allows buying team to carry an extra pitcher more than mlb limits. Ohtani/dodgers deal was very crafty in this designation.. Dodgers genius at work
  19. Jed doesn't usually tip his hand. I personally, don't think it would happen since seiya is so reasonably priced into the dh role. But, I dislike all the published reports about moving him and this idea might disrupt the Sasaki/Wolfe/Jed good will.
  20. A lot of pre-xmas last minute shopping over this weekend. I'm not liking all the seiya rumors lately. Current one is from rosenthal.. seiya to dodgers
  21. horsefeathers. Didn't look at title omg
  22. Goldy to the Yankees for 12mil.
  23. It's amazing all these millions being given to all these injured pitchers: Shows 2 things, the dire need for starting pitchers and the crazy cash cow that mlb truly is and any owner pussyfooting clear of the luxury tax is a fraud.
  24. Al Yellon of bleedcubbieblue spells out the payroll situation as it is today. Take a look. He got into $ commitments I'd never figured
