So we have Steele, Imonaga, Taillon, Assad, and Wesneski.
I don't dislike Hendricks the person but he shouldn't be out there anymore. (I'm sure that he'll have the game of his life now that I posted that)
I know that he isn't the greatest but, why not start Druce Miley over Hendricks?
What happened to Hendricks' back problem? Does it only hurt when he's getting lit up?
Is it too much to hope for Assad to get back after the break?
I was hopeful for Amaya (Miglet). Maybe he put too many innings on his legs last season?
I was skeptical about Gomes because of his age (36). Remember, they had three catchers on the roster early last season. This season they started with two. In Spring training Thaddeus Hudson looked good when I watched but his career numbers are awful and Jorge Alfaro is currently awful with Boston. I expected three catchers again. Didn't happen. I guess that three out of that four is no better than two.
Their AA and AÀA guys are hitting catcher-ish but are they good catchers? Aliendo, Wyndham and Ballesteros.
I don't want Taillon gone. He's a great option as a back of the rotation starter. They need 6-7 viable options and they can't all be $30 million guys.
They do need to free up some money to address 3rd, catcher, and back of the bullpen.
How they do that is up to them. I couldn't believe that they went into the season with those two catchers (didn't they have another veteran on a minor league deal?) and no experienced 3rd baseman. They try to go cheap on the bullpen every year and choke away the first half of the season in doing so
