  1. Yep... Dodgers add Maddux and Lugo http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2535506
  2. The one that sticks out in my mind... Sammy is on first, and there is a balk...Sammy starts to walk towards second, and Harry starts literally screaming "What's Thammy Doing!?!?!" "He's gonna get picked off!!" Stone politely tells Harry there was a balk while Harry was not paying attention and talking his usual hilarious nonsense. Harry made me a Cub fan... "Where's Harry" is a great read by the way. He led an amazing life...
  3. I'm not trying to start anything, but Marty Brennamen said it was Hendry who told him that Hill, CP, and Mitre was too steep of a price for Dunn. My wife and I both heard it listening to the game today (She's a Reds fan unfortunately). Hal McCoy, the HOF Writer for the Dayton Daily News, agreed that it was too much to give up for Dunn. It may sound crazy, but this is what transpired. You could hear Marty yell "bye Jim" right before he went into the story on the air. As crazy as this all sounds, I'm 100% positive this is what I heard. McCoy loves Hill, and he has stated this in the past in some of his columns. That's all I got...
  4. For what it's worth, I was listening to the game here in Cincy on 700 WLW, and Jim Hendry stopped by to say "hello" to Marty Brennamen and Hal McCoy of the Dayton Daily News. Marty said he asked Jim about the Dunn for Mitre, Hill, and CP rumor...and said Jim laughed and said that would be too steep of a price to give up for Dunn. From this, Marty implied that the offer had been on the table, but Hendry declined. McCoy agreed that this was too steep. Let me reiterate, Marty implied this, he was not told that the offer had actually been made. Just letting you know what I heard during the game here in Cincy. Nothing else has been said. This might reinforce what Bruce had to say earlier though.
  5. Living in Cincy I get to see Dunn play just about every night on FSN Ohio. He is a great athlete, and a servicable Left Fielder. He has decent speed for his size, and excellent plate discipline. That being said, I'd like to have Dunn, but I don't think the Cubs should risk giving up too much for him. Why? Because he is hitting .212 (.210 career) with runners in scoring position. If the Cubbies do get Dunn, I would only hit him second. Hitting him 3-6 won't help because of his inability to get key hits with RISP. The Reds have no idea where to hit him and have been shifting him around all year because of this...4th-7th in the order. He should hit 2nd to take advantage of his ability to get on base at such a high percentage... Imagine Dunn with an OBP of .400 in front of DLee, Aram, and Bernie...That's a lot more RBI. He actually gets a bad rap here in Cincy. People here feel he takes too many good pitches with RISP. Marty Brennamen is all over him contantly about this. I wouldn't be surprised if Dan O'Brien asks for too much. He's been fleeced in every trade he has made so far, and he knows it. People are still up in arms about the Chris Reitsma trade.
  6. "I said it before and I'll say it again, put Pujols on the Cubs, and they have 55 wins, put Lee on the Cardinals and they're a .500 team" Joe Morgan or not...who knows. You have about as much credibility as anyone else on this board. I just ask you to put some facts behind this statement because I just don't see it. Looking at their stats they are very close in almost everything. DLee has a higher average, slugging, OBP, and OPS. More doubles, triples, HR's, hits, SB's...and most would say he's a better fielder (although Pujols is very good himself). I don't see Pujols accounting for 13 more wins with this team. I'm just asking because I don't know. How does Pujols, with very similar stats, make this team 13 wins better? Thanks, ColumbusCub...now in cincy
