  1. Spending the most money does not automatically turn into winning the WS. In fact, trying to spend your way out of a mess typically leads to a bigger mess. I am more worried about making the right choices on what young guys to sign long-term and re-stocking the farm with arms to take over in the next couple years. As far as this year, I completely agree with Theo in that if the current core doesn’t hit again, it won’t matter. The addition of one bat wouldn’t be the difference. I think the biggest mistake made was not getting yelich via trade a yr ago before the brewers jumped on him. What a missed opportunity. A solid on base guy in front of our bats is the biggest need, but also evidently, the hardest to come by. If the core hits early, I think he’ll be aggressive in strengthening the pen.
  2. No - but is Heyward someone we want in the outfield through '23? ---------- In the "won't happen, but wouldn't it be nice" category of one team bailing another out of bad contracts... Melancon, Will Smith and Tony Watson for Heyward, Duensing and any two prospects SF wants outside of our top 3. And then sign Harper. It would make zero sense to free up money by getting out of one horrendously bad contract just to run right into another one
