  1. i'm sorry but dlee is clearly not a team player! obviously he could have sent that fat chick from the other night down to burnitz.....selfish!
  2. i do not want to make excuses for perez or macias but i was really thinking on this and why would anyone ever walk either of them? i mean if i'm pitching and i throw 2 balls. i am throwing the biggest beach ball in there and saying hit it, because chances are they will get themselves out anyway.
  3. washburn must have really good mirrors if he has a 3.15 era. and how does offense help your era?
  4. i can understand giving nomar a break. don't like it but understand it. but where is the daily double? we all beg and pleading for the lineup featuring the two "punch and judy hitting midgets " at the top. fianlly dusty listens to us, and we have our best offensive game of the month...and then he does this...is he trying to lose! (feigns complaints about today's lineup, since that worked so well yesterday) what's he going to do next sit dlee.....lol
  5. strong lineup? strong starting rostation? please tell who would take burnitz over what they have? patterson? dubois? holla? murton?(do not count his upside-this is about this year only) neifi? god love him but who would take walker over their current 2b? barrett? =pitchers= who wants wood? maddux for what he is paid? hill (for the this year only also) williams? the answer no contenders, and very few pretenders(probably 0) and a few of the poor teams might take the cheapos like hill, williams, murton or neifi
  6. i'll wager a quad city area t shirt vs your minnesota area t? sound good??! i am hoping they go again(they went to llws last year.) but my sons 12 year old travel team played them before the tourney and beat them 4-1, even though we hadn't played little league rules since we were 9. just want to be able to say we beat the team that went to the llws (pretty shallow, huh!) let me know on the wager!
  7. rothschild should catch a lot of heat. i guarantee that all the pitching moves that dusty gets creamed on are coming from larry. your pitching caoch knows pitching(he's supposed too), he makes the decisions that deal with that.
  8. no one is in from the us yet. the championship regional games are tonight! they play davenport northwest in the championship. winner goes to llws. it is on espn 8:00 tonight(friday)
  9. He did address the closer situation. Over the off-season he stated on several occasions he wanted Ryan Dempster to close. Dusty Baker wanted him in the starting rotation instead. Had Dempster been in the closer's role all along the Cubs would be better. Not significantly better, mind you, but at least around .500 unstead of six games under. bull. as gm if you wanted a guy to close he would close. we had dozens of possible starters to fill in and 0 closers. hendry never ever planned on dempster. he was only used after every other option had bombed. the trib spent more money than anyone. but hendry spent so much dead money that we paid 100 mil for a team with 60 mil in salaries.
  10. he is our top winner, leader in innings and his era has continues to fall. as i have said all along he has pitched well. he has a really bad outing every 5-6 starts and that jacks up his era. if he had any support he would be at 14 wins. we will have to overpay him next season as a 4-5 starter but if we go with wood as a starter you almost have to have maddux just to make sure someone of the 5 will go out there every 5 days. we want guys to end load contracts to help the present but when they do that, you will over pay when you reach the backend. bottom line, when maddux is finsihed next year he will have 45-46 wins in 3 seasons, while golden boys prior and wood won't have combined for that many. you tell me who is over paid then.
  11. 2 really sad points= 1. if we the rest of games we will win 102. that's .620 baseball, st louis is playing .640...win 42 straight and we still wouldn't catch them. look at st louis lineup, then atlanta. then houston(except for pitching) and san diego....if we had done anything at all in the offaeason we would be a shoe in for the nl. these lineups are brutal! unfortunately, hendry has left us just as bad and now we are in a huge hole...probably too big. it's just another wasted year by the front office. st louis has a great lineup but you remove walker, sanders, molina and rolen and they are not scary. the braves are basically playing their triple a team and running away with it.
  12. just figured this out! is there any truth to the rumor that the cards traded mulder secretly to the reds for eric milton? that certainly would explain a lot!
  13. yeah, i heard that too! how about you even just sit the guy when you are trailing the reds 7-1 the day before you face your biggest rival?
  14. yeah, i heard that too! how about you even just sit the guy when you are trailing the reds 7-1 the day before you face your biggest rival?
  15. yeah, i heard that too! how about you even just sit the guy when you are trailing the reds 7-1 the day before you face your biggest rival?
  16. if neifi and macias both get hits in the same inning- please be careful of lightning in your area cub fans....
  17. we have been saying this all day! it's about time dusty went back to the Daily Double! WILDCARD HERE WE COME! LOL
  18. how bad is that maddux is arguably the 4th best offensive threat in the line up today....
  19. (lawton's stat) just magnifies the fact that we have no right handed pop on the bench. i mean macias is your no.2 rh outfielder...egh
  20. unless pujols goes nuts we may be looking at a 2-1 game. either that or maddux leaves down 2-1 only to have the bullpen bring it to 7-1. i am trying but i do not see a scenario where the cubs can win...
  21. neifi raised his obp to .288! awesome for a 2 hole hitter. no one is really worried that macias and neifi play but that they are hitting 1-2 keep in mind we did not give up a home run on the first pitch today! baby steps, people, baby steps!
  22. hold on...we need to protest right away. tommy larussa/tony lasorda is playing right handed batters vs a right handed pitcher=highly illegal!
  23. did i hear the announcer correctly, the cards rested pujols yesterday! i didn't think it was legal to rest your best hitter. hr for al...so much for that lead question
  24. i have lots of questions today... how come guys like neifi and macias never get a back spasm or migraine? couldn't they tighten up during the rain delay?
