  1. I guess Williamson has his work cut out for him
  2. I know Cecil Fielder is hard up for cash.
  3. I have an idea! We can figure out if Sammy, or any other player used steroids. It's a fool proof sure fire method. I've actually seen this work in the past too! It was a very popular technique, and it's something that has been handed down for generations. Okay here's what we do... Step 1. Tie an anvil around the suspected steroid users ankle. Step 2. Take the user out to the middle of a preferably 20 or so feet deep. Step 3. Throw the roid raged addict into the lake. Step 4. Wait to see if he can swim to the surface. Step 5. If he swims to the surface he's a user, and burn said player at a stake. Like I said this has been used for generations, and my familly has always been able to find the steroid user in the crowd this way.
  4. does anyone have an age on poor eddy?
  5. If you consider that to be a problem, then I think you're misrepresenting it as a baseball problem. It's as much a problem with society as it is with baseball. It's not a misrepresentation if it is helping to contribute to other problems.
  6. While it may be a game it reflects poorly on the team, the game, and the player. The thing about this game is it is a learning experience for some kids growing up(not saying the players, but the game). They learn how to work together and accomplish a task. How would you like your kid to learn teamwork doesn't mean anything, don't respect an opponent in a debate, and so on? Even though it is just a game it is still a reflection on the individual playing the game. Just real quick so we both know I understand a lot of players from today do a lot for their community, and are probably better people than some of the good ol boys. I am speaking from a pure representation of themselves on the field, and they way they carry themselves.
  7. It was nowhere near wide spread until Espn came around, and players could watch themselves regularly.
  8. I love the way that the game used to be played in an unselfish manner. Is that so bad? I'm not a racist, and I know about the doping problems within the sport. Too many times I watch the game today, and see a chance to win the game, but the hitter swings for a 600 ft. homer, rather than just attempt to make contact. Remember when players showed class when hitting a homerun, and didn't stand around to watch, taunt, and talk smack the entire time their running the bases(or their held to a single while admiring their shot)? That happened sometimes, but everyone is more concerned now about bringing down an opponent instead of respecting them. Sure there are positives and negatives about each generation of baseball, but everyone is going to enjoy their generation more. "Unselfish manner"? How is it "unselfish" to disallow blacks from playing? That's about as selfish as you can get. As far as hot-dogging around the bases, I'm not sure which era your referring to, specifically. I remember Jeffrey Leonard show-boating around the bases against the Cardinals in the playoffs, in 1987. I remember Jack Clark watching some of his home runs. Hell, Babe Ruth alledgedly pointing to the centerfield bleachers could be considered "showboating", but most people consider that to be "cool". That aspect of the game hasn't changed much, in my opinion. We just see it more now, because of ESPN. Alot of people are just looking for a reason to bag on players today, but they're really no different than players of other eras. Here just so you now where I'm coming from: THIS IS NOT A RACIAL EQUALITY ISSUE. I AM TALKING ABOUT ON THE FIELD! After a small breath of air I can continue now. Look back at a lot of the old footage of players who were elite. Most of the stock footage I have show the players hitting a homerun, and running the bases. Today you have a ton of players that will showboat, and try to show up their opponent. There are a lot more players that are trying to do whatever they can to get their name in the papers, and on Espn. This is common in all sports today, not just baseball, and that is a problem with my generation.

  10. all i really see is fish
  11. I think they're all yelling about position players. Pitchers don't count. [-(
  12. I would probably give him up, but as a last resort. This is probably just my centiment though.
  13. I know you were joking. I would just rather have Cedeno while he's cheap, then paying him a lot of money later on in his career.
  14. you're drunk and you "really" like Cedeno? In a scense that he's a good ball player. Get your mind out of the gutter. Anyway, I was impressed with the Ba, in both AAA, and MLB. I think given the proper opportunity he could be incredible.
  15. To help in my defense I'm drunk, and I really like Cedeno.
  16. Murton's OBP was .386 in his 140 AB. He also hit 7 homers, which over a full season is a 30+ homer pace. He was the Cubs' most reliable player besides DLee over the last two months. And Dusty naturally avoided playing him whenever he could. Alright I'll give it to ya. I still would like to hold onto Cedeno at any cost.
  17. I would check on it, but I don't think I'd give up Cedeno. I would however, give up Patterson, and our best pitching prospect.
  18. Stupid question, I've never seen Murton play, but I've seen Cedeno play. Why do we value him so much more then Cedeno?
  19. No kidding. Its annoying as hell to see the same silly argument every 2 weeks. I will agree.

  21. Ok, it's official. If this deal was made, the invisible Red Sox GM would have become the best GM of all time. Do they have a GM yet?
  22. We have 10 days to trade him, otherwise he will be released. HE"S FINALLY GONE THANK YOU SWEET GOD THANK YOU. Stop the presses. Does anyone know his service time? He can accept a minor league assignment if it's less than 5 years, can't he? 6 yrs: http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/stats/player_locator_results.jsp?playerLocator=macias This means Macias can accept assignment, he was arbitration eligible. Let him. I hope he enjoys Iowa and the PCL, because that's where he'll be stuck. Hendry's not dumb enough to try and remove someone off the 40 man to put Macias back on. Woa....Woa..........Woa............nobody told me the guy would be moving to the great state of Iowa if he was cut  I guess to quote GnR I'm right next door to hell.
  23. I'm pretty stoked right now.
  24. Corey has sucked big time in his 360 career ABs in the 2 hole (like I mean low 600 OPS sucking). Management "letting him do his thing" means swinging for the fences at pitches from his toes to his eyes. So in summation, no, I do not want him getting the second largest number of ABs on the team, leaving the bases empty infront of Lee/ARAM (and not by knocking in runs, by striking out). I mean by doing his thing, let him play like he did in 03. Let him play like he did in Aug of 04, when he was getting settled in. A lot of his problems have been the way this orginization has mishandled him. I get just as frustrated as the next guy when he swings at pitches in his eyes. The reason why is because I know he can do better. I would be willing to bet that he's working right now to prove he is the player everyone says he is. I also think if the rumor I've heard about him working out with Barrett is true, he will turn it around. No more of this molding him to be something else let him become the player he is. I too think he was completely mishandled in the minors, but am not as optimistic that he can just turn it around. The cubs have tried to have him use his skills for quite a while, so my response would be that I have no reason to believe he will turn it around at this point in his career (especially for the money he will be making). He has shown flashes of brilliance, but he is just way too inconsistant. Even his "breakout" 2003 (1/2) season, he only had one good month. To bank on a guy who has had 4 good months (april 2002, may 2003, june and august 2004) in over three and a half years in the big leagues to bat second in a playoff hopeful lineup is a leap of faith to say the least. What can I say. This is one of the only aspects where I'm hopeful, and Bud Light keeps telling me I'm right. I think I'm going to crash, but keep me informed.
