  1. I'm not sure if you're being serious or not. "Bad luck" is a term used by losers to justify their incompetence. Winners aren't lucky, they simply put themselves in positions to win. This organization's insisting on using ever imaginable excuse they can for their ineptitude makes them very difficult to remain loyal to. I remain a fan anyway, mostly because I'm an idiot.
  2. This team couldn't put up a .600 winning percentage against independent league teams.
  3. That would be a better protest. "Stay at home" day. You'd have to get a lot of publicity about it, and obviously not everyone would do it, but the visual of near empty, or even half empty stands would be pretty impressive. I won't take credit for this suggestion, but someone had mentioned a walk out in the 6th or 7th inning, that way all the "fans" from out of state, Rockford, etc. could still attend part of the game. This is probably a more realistic scenario then expecting no one to show up. It would be great to see everyone walk out at the same time. Since everyone in the stadium would have already purchased their game tickets (and probably enough food and beer for a small army,) I really don't see what this would accomplish. I think we just need to face the fact that the Cubs organization has all of us by the short hairs, and we would do well to come to grips with the fact that none of us will see a championship in our lifetime.
  4. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060518&content_id=1460008&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc You know, I started off upset by this move. But seeing now that Womack has "apologized many times" for being hurt, I see that Hendry was attempting to improve the team's chemistry and character with this brilliant acquisition. Kudos Jim Hendry.
  5. It wasn't really any worse than the rest of the slop this team has trudged out this season. After a while you'll become numb to the pain. I know I have.
  6. stupid wgn...all that I had to do was watch TBS more as a child...stupid outlier season of '89. I was an impressionable ten year old...bah.... I share your pain. I was 10 in '89 as well. I was convinced that it was a sign of things to come. I was an idiot.
  7. Are you kidding? They just do what we're doing for money. If I had their job, I would wake up every morning on a sidewalk bench outside of a bar with a bottle in my hand. I would be like Bob Euker in Major League, I would need to have a heavy blood-alcohol level to get through each game.
  8. Dusty should get a 20-year extension. At least then I would be able to quit watching this crap for a couple of decades and come back fresh. The good thing about retaining Baker is that as long as he is here, I will never have any kind of expectation of sniffing the postseason, so I'll never be too dissapointed.
  9. Don't neglect Len and Bob. Yes, but neither of them feel physical pain like Ronny does when the team blows.
  10. Only Ernie Banks would feel like playing two on a day like today. God, I love his positive attitude. I envy anyone that can stay positive in the face of the worst season in history.
  11. I would be in favor of seeing if the Cardinals would accept a trade of our entire roster minus Murton and Cedeno for Pujols. We need to play for the future. Why would they want this crap? Don't think they would. It'd be worth a shot though.
  12. Didn't see and don't want to. I really like watching Matsui play. It would be nice if something about this baseball season didn't suck, but I guess that's asking quite a bit.
  13. I would be in favor of seeing if the Cardinals would accept a trade of our entire roster minus Murton and Cedeno for Pujols. We need to play for the future.
  14. I think about Ronny and Pat in the booth. It must really suck calling the crap that has been spewing forth from this idiot team.
  15. It's becoming more and more clear with each passing day that this team's goal has now become to eclipse the '62 Mets for most losses in a season. I give them a hardy good luck in their quest. They should have no problem, as this is the worst team I have ever seen.
  16. Until this team starts hitting, they should be forced to use pink bats.
  17. You know that I have a problem with the entire organizational philosophy Dal, but unfortunately MacPahail and Hendry aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Firing Dusty would at least bring a wry smile to my face.
  18. Drastic changes are required ... 6 games ago. Bring up Pie and sit Pierre. Fire Baker and replace him ... with anyone semi-competent. Fire Clines and replace him ... with anyone semi-competent. It's a good thing my job rules, because between women and this God-forsaken Cubs team I would definitely be on suicide-watch otherwise.
  19. Don't Panic! Trust me, I already have, and it isn't helping the team score in runs.
  20. New Busch is a great place to a watch a baseball game. I hope that today we actually play baseball, rather than the sad excuse for it that they have managed the previous two misery-filled days. In other news, don't waste time going up to the top of the Arch. Go up to the Sears Tower or Empire State Building instead.
  21. Life sucks.
  22. You can always become a White Sox bandwagon fan. There are plenty of those right now. I would rather kill myself.
  23. So, now that the season is over, please put in suggestions for how you think I should spend this summer.
  24. This seems about right I'm heading to St. Louis this weekend, and Lee gets hurt just in time for my trip. Life rules.
