  1. Aside from game 6 and 7, we do know who is pitching the next 3. It will be Hill-Urias-Kershaw. It's not officially announced, but those are 3 are highly likely. If I had to guess game 6, I'd go with Hill and Kershaw in game 7.
  2. No [expletive] horsefeathers, in other news water is wet So it's not worth much. That was my point. No need to get angry about it. :D
  3. One thing I'll say about Rich Hill. He throws a lot of breaking balls. I can see the Cubs lineup struggling against those. Changeups as well. This will have to be one of those games where some of our guys get on base through walks. Otherwise it'll be another long night similar to game 2. Honestly that means nothing. Betting trends do not indicate whether or not the Cubs/Dodgers are likely to win/lose this series. They are for people who are throwing money down and the odds of which they may or may not win. A lot of people get betting and actual odds to win a game or series confused. If you want real statistical odds behind game 3 and the series try FiveThirtyEight > http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-mlb-predictions/?ex_cid=rrpromo As you can see, yes we're still statistically favored to win the series. But that also doesn't mean a whole lot. Yesterdays game, we were statistically favored to win 54-46. Tomorrow's game is 50-50. At the end of the day it's baseball. Literally anything can happen, especially in now a best of 5 where we no longer have home field advantage and Kershaw potentially pitching 2 of those 5.
  4. Maddon should consider moving the bats around. If Rizzo and/or Russell get going, he can always go back to his original lineup later. These games are too important at this point to keep the status quo going. As someone said, it's now a best of 5 with 3 in LA. The Cubs will absolutely need to grab the next 2 with Kershaw pitching game 5.
  5. The Cubs need to win the next two. With Kershaw looming again on Thursday, you want to be ahead of that. Even though it would be Lester vs. Kershaw, you never know what can happen in a game like that. Similar to tonight, it could really go either way. We have a favorable matchup against Hill with Jake on the mound Tuesday. You have to take advantage of that. The problem is, Russell and Rizzo are holding the offense back so much. You'd think they'd snap out of it at some point, but it doesn't seem like it's going to stop any time soon. Hill is a tough pitcher and he can shut us out. The bats are going to need to show up in full force if we want to win Tuesday.
  6. Was about the same for both teams. The strike 1 call on Bryant in the 9th was the only outrageous call.
  7. Rizzo does this and then ends up hitting 3 HRs in 2 games. Russell on the other hand......... Russell was very bad before the postseason started. He's had about a month of bad games.
  8. Game 1 was just so important. I'll admit it, had they lost Game 1, this series would have been over. Take 2 of 3 in LA and they'll win this series.
  9. Good point; it's been a whole 24 hours since they scored 8. The Cubs won't win anything with Russell and Rizzo struggling the way they are. You can't hide that forever.
  10. At least Rizzo is drawing walks, Russell is useless
  11. Cubs honoring Ryan Dempster by walking 6 Dodgers hitters
  12. Horsefeathers, we hit playoff Bumgarner hard, playoff Kershaw is nothing
  13. This is the type of game that will test the Cubs grittiness. Much like what the Dodgers did against the Cubs tonight, the Cubs will have to do against the Dodgers tomorrow. If we can keep the runs down for the Dodgers to 3 or so, we can give ourselves a chance at the end as long as we make Kershaw work and get his pitch count up. It's important though to get this game if it's within reach. The next 3 are in LA, and you don't want to put too much pressure on yourself to get it back to Chicago.
  14. After seeing some of the losses that didn't correlate with their percentages, I've grown to put little faith in their percentages. I believe the Nats were 60/30 favorites too for game 5. At the end of the day, it's baseball. You can put statistics behind it, but the randomness (especially in October) can take over at any moment with one or two out of the norm plays.
  15. I can’t begin to explain how much I hate pulling Russell for Coghlan there.
