  1. Wait. You sayin' yet another Cubs top pick has been wasted? I wouldn't call it "wasted" if we end up trading him for a tangible asset like Roberts. :D I'd say that makes it an even bigger waste.
  2. Not an insider, some guy who is making sure to preface everything by saying it's probably false. His post started out with this: That "some guy" is supposedly Roy Firestone... though considering how much trouble he has not sounding like a 13 year old, I sincerely doubt it is. I'm pretty sure that's actually Roy Firestone. His typing is pretty poor though.
  3. No, and I don't understand why people keep saying that. I've listened to the interview and he never said that.
  4. I don't really understand that statement. Wouldn't those 2 be the same thing?
  5. Yeah, well I think it's funny that you think you know for sure what would happen. We don't know. I've heard that Hendry and Lou want to move Soriano down as well. Nobody knows for sure what they'd do.
  6. I only see one sucker lined up. As for examples, the Renteria one is one that clearly showed this is a stupid deal. Renteria has produced offense at a greater rate than Roberts the last two years. He plays shortstop, a more important position, shortstop vs. second base is like comparing left field vs. center field, and Renteria wasn't caught lying about using steroids. This is crap. You know damn well if a Cubs player was caught using steroids we'd have to sell him for a quarter of the price. But Roberts, no, it's supposed to be like nothing happened, and our price is so fair, no other GM wants to get in on a deal for this magnificent, magnificent player? No way. Look at what the Twins traded originally to get Luis Castillo. Roberts' package = way more. Second base offense does not come at a premium. If you look at what All-Star 2b have been traded for lately, it's nothing like the Roberts' deals. Why don't we factor in Roberts' 2nd half was more like his career numbers, like people do with Eric Byrnes's 2007? This is stupid. There is no reason to trade more for a lesser player at a lesser position. Are you "andyprattisnotsogood", or do you just steal his material?
  7. I think the Pie stuff is all a bunch of garbage. Rosenthal mentioned it and then all of a sudden everyone else started copying him. I don't know what's more ridiculous, the prospect of trading Pie and Gallagher for Brian Roberts, or the fact that a lot of people on orioleshangout.com wouldn't like thar return. Hilarious.
  8. No. That insider's (Peace21, I think) source is Erik Bedard's agent. I'm not sure his "source" is actually Mark Pieper (Bedard's agent). I think it might just be someone that works in the same agency or something.
  9. Some people actually think Pierre is good? Wow.
  10. By the way, here's the key line in that paragraph..... Dude just wants hits on the website.
  11. There's no doubt in my mind that Bedard still ends up in Seattle.
  12. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7726024/Source:-M's-deal-for-Bedard-on-hold Wow. I almost hope this is true just so I can watch that organization continue to fail.
  13. Adam Jones hasn't even left Venezuela. http://www.komoradio.com/marinersradio/shannon/14571602.html Hilarious.
  14. What's so spectacular about Petco Park exactly? I understand it is a big major league park. So how does that effect Greene's OBP exactly? One can argue that it helps it, and one can argue it hurts it. Obviously his HR's will be effected. So he'll probably hit more somewhere else, but a lot of you guys believe Figgins had a fluke year, so why couldn't Greene have had a fluke year in HR's? He only had 15 HR's each of the 3 years before last years 27. Since the park is big I think there would be more open grass for base hits to land, therefore his average should go up. And OBP wouldnt be any different than batting average in a different park because walks have nothing to do with the size of the park. Either you are not reading or are intentionally obtuse. The post to which you are referring is talking about the differences in SLG. Theriot>/ = Greene OBP Green>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Theriot SLG Advantage Greene He says Greene's OBP would be between .320-.340 if he wasnt in Petco, why would it go up so much not being in Petco? How is that hard for you to understand? Seriously, it's not difficult. Oh by the way, in 1028 major league at-bats away from Petco, his OBP is .335.
  15. paper...no, plastic....no, paper.... wait, plastic....i mean paper.....
  16. The second guy is probably a starting pitcher.
  17. You guys are making too big of a deal out of that article.
  18. And the Cubs management must agree with me That pretty much confirms that you're wrong.
  19. Theriot is not impatient. He just isnt a good hitter yet. It is not impatient when you take the first pitch down the middle, take the 2nd pitch down the middle, then are forced to hit the 3rd pitch down the middle or you'd strike out. They know he is not a power threat so they give him lots of pitches to hit, but if you have 2 strikes you need to swing at the 3rd one. Isn't a good hitter yet? Dude is 28. And please spare me the "it was his first full year in the major garbage. He's never going to hit.
  20. Nobody is saying Cedeno is good. Him and Theriot are both terrible. At least Cedeno has an, albeit slim, chance to improve. Theriot is absolutely worthless. The problem is, he can't hir righties. He never could in the minors either, so much so that they tried to turn him into a switch hitter. That obviously didn't work so they scrapped the idea. Now he's in the majors and gues what? He still can't hit righties. He's not a patient hitter. Stop coming up with excuses why the stats are wrong. They aren't wrong. Theriot doesn't get on base, doesn't hit for average, doesn't hit for power, and doesn't play good defense. He's fast and that's about it. I like the the way Theriot plays and I think he's a good guy, but it's pretty obvious that he's just not that good. Theriot won't make it through this season as the starting shortstop.
  21. Plus Theriot brings a lot more to the table than Cedeno. 10x better plate discipline. Umm, Theriot led the team in 1 pitch outs. Which player faced more pitches per AB? Cedeno. P/PA: Cedeno: 3.68 Theriot: 3.53 Theriot is a very patient hitter, one of the only few on the Cubs. It's just when he swung at a ball, he didn't miss it often like most of the other Cubs, so his pitches per at bat were less. Seriously, are you actually saying these things? This has to be a joke.
