  1. Scheduled Games (Central Time): Iowa vs. Worchester, 12:08 pm Knoxville at Rocket City, 6:35 pm South Bend at Beloit, 6:05 pm Myrtle Beach at Columbia, 6:05 pm Both DSL teams have the day off Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Jameson Taillon (rehab) Knoxville: RHP Antonio Santos South Bend: RHP Erian Rodríguez Myrtle Beach: RHP Kevin Camacho
  2. Kepley was 1/2, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 1 K...5 BB and 4 HBP in 26 PA at Myrtle Beach. Southisene with an XBH (a double)! The Iso is up to .026.
  3. Heard the velocity was down a little from before he got hurt last year.
  4. Juan Cabada: 3/4, 3 singles - .882 OPS, ~140 wRC+. Looking back, neither Ballesteros or Rojas had an OPS over .800 in their age 17 season in the DSL and both had a lower wRC+.
  5. Alzolay signed in 2013 (Torres and Jiménez class). Amaya, Assad, Christopher Morel and Paredes were in the 2015 class. Admittedly the Cubs severely capped some of their IFA classes by going over budget in 2013 and 2015, forcing them to not make any big signings in 2014, 2016 or 2017.
  6. Miguel Amaya and/or Javier Assad? (Assuming we aren't counting Paredes, Torres or Jiménez for this exercise)
  7. The Cubs have to flex their financial muscle in the majors because that's their only advantage (an admittedly big one) in division. ** Admittedly the Cardinals were able to get more pool space from the draft lottery this year. The Brewers traded away a competitive balance pick or else would have had even more bonus space.
  8. Their Latin American program has really come on the last couple of years (possibly the best in baseball since 2020-21). The capper is that none of Made ($950k), Peña ($800k) nor Quero ($200k) got a 7-figure bonus (and even Chourio only got $1.8 million, which would be outside the top 15 bonuses his IFA year).

  10. I don't see that being feasible - he's universally a top 25 prospect.
  11. Scheduled Games (Central Time): Iowa vs. Worchester, 6:38 pm Knoxville at Rocket City, 6:35 pm South Bend at Beloit, 6:05 pm Myrtle Beach at Columbia, 6:05 pm DSL Cubs Blue at DSL White Sox, 10:00 am DSL Cubs Red vs. DSL Arizona Black, 10:00 am Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Chris Kachmar Knoxville: RHP Grant Kipp South Bend: RHP Connor Schultz Myrtle Beach: RHP Alfredo Romero
  12. Yeah, they've traded away Ferris, Johnson and Gallagher but I think they really have shied away from the higher ceiling early draft picks that seemed so interesting earlier under Kantrovitz (Gray, Horton, Ferris, Mulé, Wiggins). Sure, some have stagnated or busted but with pitcher attrition, you need more swings to get hit.
  13. It's not quite a reverse Busch but Caissie for Snelling.
  14. Pipeline re-ranked their top 30s: https://www.mlb.com/milb/prospects/cubs/ 1. Owen Caissie 2. Moisés Ballesteros 3. Jefferson Rojas 4. Jaxon Wiggins 5. Kevin Alcántara 6. Ethan Conrad 7. Jonathon Long 8. Pedro Ramírez 9. Brandon Birdsell 10. James Triantos 11. Cristian Hernández 12. Kane Kepley 13. Kaleb Wing 14. Juan Cabada 15. Josiah Hartshorn 16. Juan Tomás 17. Cole Mathis 18. Tyler Schlaffer
  15. Based on what happened in the second half of 2023, it's pretty safe to say Stroman will never pitch in this org again.
  16. Scheduled Games (Central Time): DSL Cubs Blue vs. DSL Cardinals, 10:00 am DSL Cubs Red at DSL Mariners (game one), 10:00 am DSL Cubs Red at DSL Mariners (game two), TBD All full season teams have the day off
