  1. for the record, i never follow or watch brewers games (like on a play by play basis). i do check the scores afterward or the next day from time to time, but i don't really gaf. if they were like 5 games behind them like they were last year, then i probably would.
  2. Probably a typo where they meant 12
  3. this is cracking me up one of my favorite players ever :dontknow:
  4. Man, I really miss watching Manny Ramirez hit.
  5. In the five days since I posted this, the position player rankings have shifted a bit.
  6. he's in the conversation [tweet] [/tweet]
  7. well that's horsefeathering awesome. great to hear.
  8. [tweet] [/tweet]
  9. Manny Ramirez had a 14% career walk rate.
  10. splitting no series is really horsefeathering bad. it's baseball. come on already. there's literally no sample of 4 games that can be considered really horsefeathering bad, no matter what the results. no 4 game sample is some referendum on a baseball team or something. especially not one that was split. hahaahahha man this is peak david i mean if getting bent out of shape whenever baseball baseballs and good teams SPLIT a horsefeathering series with a bad team is how you chose to enjoy baseball, go you. seems insane to me, but go nuts.

  12. Alcides Escobar has a career wRC+ of 69, while Russell is at 91. That's an even bigger difference than 2017 and 2018 Anthony Rizzo. I think you might be underrating Russell's bat just a tad. What is Russell these days? I assume that takes in account his first season? Because he's gotten much more worthless over time. Maybe I'll come around when he finds a way to slug .400 again. ETA: I must correct myself. His second offensive year was the year when I thought he could be awesome. Russell is at a 93 wRC+ this season. So, higher than that career number mentioned earlier.
  13. Russell is an above average everyday player who is 24. He isn't crappy. That's a laughable package for Trout, but he isn't crappy. Russell is about to start getting expensive and plays great defense and doesn't do horsefeathers on offense. I can find that guy a ton cheaper and get value for a guy that hopefully others think isn't horsefeathers. He's likely a 3+ win player this year, barring injury. He's not going to be expensive enough to not have surplus value there anytime soon.
  14. Yeah, that might not even get half of Trout. Why would a team trade the best player of this generation for a crappy Russell, crappy Almora, Happ and some not top-5 MLB prospects? Russell is an above average everyday player who is 24. He isn't crappy. That's a laughable package for Trout, but he isn't crappy.
  15. I'm at Buffalo wild wings and the bears game without a single player likely to see snaps playing has the audio
  16. Truckloads of cash and draft picks. Do it. This article says multiple firsts plus. I’m in. It would fill one of the few glaring holes on roster for the long term with an elite young player at a critical position, and could put them in the playoffs this year. Basically name a price and I’d pay. https://bearswire.usatoday.com/2018/08/01/chicago-bears-khalil-mack-oakland-raiders-trade/ That's kind of how I'd feel
  17. ok so what'll it take to take khalil mack
  18. Javy was +2000 to win last week i know and if i weren't so averse to dealing with bovada's cash out nonsense (they sent me some crazy canadian check that nobody wanted to cash out for me last time) i'd put a little money on that. also the early results have gotten better since i said that.
  19. you and derwood have mentioned his "antics" and how that rubs old time guys the wrong way, but i haven't heard anything but praise from even most old timey guys probably because, despite being flashy, he is really horsefeathering good at little things nobody else usually even notice. harold reynolds could barely contain himself when describing the bunt singles and the steals of home and the thought that went into them. i've definitely heard stuff about the "antics" from fans of other teams (and a couple anonymous quotes from players he has probably pissed off), but i haven't seen many in the media who *don't* seem to praise/love on him (short of maybe some dildo local broadcasters like thom). he has something for everyone.
  20. I'll say this much...I think the early results are highly underselling his shot.
  21. Ruben Quevedo and Amaury Telemaco were both less than stellar. man when amaury took that no hitter into the 8th in his debut, i thought for sure he was destined for the HOF so i decided to check myself on this https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN199605160.shtml i was a little off...he pitched 7 innings of one hit ball, lost the no-no in the 6th.
  22. for the record, i voted yes. i'm feeling like there's momentum headed that way and he's probably got the highest q rating of any of the people in the conversation (as far as the popularity contest part goes). i could easily see it going arenado, though, especially if they grab the west (not gonna happen) or a wild card
