  18. Damned shame they're taking Wells out. I was just starting to like that guy !!
  19. Wow... another man on second base with nobody out already. Will this time be the charm ??
  20. Wells threw the perfect pitch for the circumstance. It was in a position where it wouldn't hit the batter, but the batter couldn't possibly lay the bunt down. Give the man his props.
  21. BOTTOM OF THE FIFTH INNING Cota flied out to the track in center field J Wilson lined out softly to shortstop Wells flied out to shallow center field 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 men left on base 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E CUBS 0 1 0 0 0 1 3 0 Pittsburgh 0 0 0 0 0 0 3 0 Home runs: CUBS: Garciaparra (6) pitcher IP H R ER BB K HR HB PIT Williams 5.0 3 0 0 0 1 1 1 60
  22. As Santo pointed out, you gotta expect that when you square around too soon. what? you can stand there all day showing bunt. throwing high and inside when the pitcher knows you're bunting is garbage. it's harder to move away from the pitch when squared up to bunt. that's not garbage, it's baseball.
  23. I wish I had the numbers on how many times the CUBS got their leadoff man to second with nobody out and failed to score.
  24. TOP OF THE FIFTH INNING Walker doubled off the right center field wall Barrett hit by pitch Patterson lined out to shortstop Williams bunted into a FC, 1-5, Walker out at third, Barrett to second Hairston grounded out to the pitcher, 1-3 0 runs, 1 hits, 0 errors, 2 men left on base 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E CUBS 0 1 0 0 0 1 3 0 Pittsburgh 0 0 0 0 0 3 0 Home runs: CUBS: Garciaparra (6)
