Do the -3 runs come from Pujols hitting 3 homers and running the wrong way around the bases? No, there's a bench clearing brawl in which Zambrano single handedly beats up Pujols, Edmonds and Rolen at the same time. The Cardinals are penalized for 3 runs by the umps out of disgrace for their manhood. Man.... I sure as hell ain't gonna miss this !!!

There's no reason to believe this won't be the case. Dusty shows an obvious preference for Neifi, so it seems likely that he will start at 2B in any games Walker either doesn't play or starts at 1B. 2006 starts at 2b Player starts Walker 10 Hairston 3 Perez 1 Seems perfectly obvious to me. guess who started at third base during those games? exactly. better luck next time. Neifi only started at third base twice. Hairston's other start at second was on a day when Dusty could just as well have started Neifi, but he chose not to. The fact remains that Neifi has started exactly 1 game out 14 not due to an injury. This is a good thing.

After getting off to that 0-12 start, Jones has really started to turn it around. 04/08 - 04/19 AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS Jones 20 3 6 0 0 1 9 3 2 5 0.300 0.364 0.450 0.814 I don't know if he can keep up that kind of production, but can we at least give him a little time to show what he can do before we throw him under the bus ?

A lot of people saying Neifi would get more playing time is if Cedeno struggled, even for a short period of time. That has yet to happen, so obviously Cedeno is going to remain the starter while he's having success. Even Dusty isn't dumb enough to sit someone hitting as well as Ronny is right now. I hate Dusty. he's an idiot and plays crappy players when he doesn't have to way too much. with that said, many said all winter that Neifi would get all the SS at the first sign of Cedeno struggles, then Cedeno struggled all spring. come openning day, Cedeno was the starting shortstop, so his point is well taken. fwiw, cedeno was pretty much guaranteed the starting job going into spring training. if he struggled during the year like he did during the spring, neifi would probably be starting by now. I wouldn't call this a major struggle for Cedeno.......... 04/11 - 04/14 AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS Cedeno 15 0 2 0 0 0 2 2 0 3 0.133 0.133 0.133 0.267 ..... but it's worth noting that Dusty didn't flinch, and Cedeno kept playing.

Bill Wirtz to buy the Cubs?! (WSI Rumor/Gammons unconfirmed)
Fred Hornkohl replied to UMFan83's topic in Chicago Cubs Talk
Just another bug on windshield of professional sports. -
Just wait until you see the look on his face when Walker is at first for 2 months. Nope, not going to happen. DLee will be back, I have faith! All that faith, plus $1.39, will buy you a cup of coffee down at the truckstop. Remember, man, these are the CUBS we're talking about !!! No...the buck thirty nine gets you the cup of coffee....the faith gets you the free refills! Is that how that works ??? Well, I'll be damned
-
I just wasn't sure what you meant by Sox/Yanks. But I couldn't agree with you more. There are plenty of interleague matchups that are entertaining with different plotlines. The Cubs in 2005 playing in Yankee stadium for the first time since 1938 and the Red Sox playing their first game in Wrigley since 1918. I like seeing matchups like that. Just a minor point here. The Red Sox had never played in Wrigley Field before. In 1918, Wirgley did not yet have it's upper deck, so in order to accomodate the larger attendance, the CUBS played the series at Comiskey Park.

Not really, he was hitting .318/.448/.614 on the season and had two shots that would have been HRs if they weren't playing in Chavez Ravine the last few days.
