  1. Same could be said for baseball too. It's not about the talent up there, it's that you don't have to worry about another team stealing the guy you want.
  2. I wouldn't mind signing Kazmir on a cheaper deal this offseason after the TOR signing
  3. I'm not sure on giving up on Brock Vereen after 2 years. He probably isn't good but if you're getting rid of a safety, at least give him a shot instead of Antrel Rolle who has 0 future with the Bears.
  4. I'm not sure how much of an effect it had but either way it was stupid and made our fans look bad. eh they had nothing to cheer about. in the few instances that they did, they did. i mean it sucked that the crowd was like that but it was because the play sucked. I remember Wrigley going nuts after DeRosa's HR in the 1st. The team played awful and the crowd responded to their play.
  5. Are we really blaming the fans being nervous at Wrigley for the sweep in 2008? Completely different situation. That team had a tight window to win and they played terrible. This team is fun to root for and will be good for awhile. Nothing to be nervous or tense about with this team. They might lose in the Wild Card game and that's okay.
  6. This team is terrible and isn't making the playoffs, there's literally no benefit to winning games Have you ever heard of something called entertainment? It's literally the reason 99% of people watch sports. This team isn't entertaining now and won't be even if they win 6 or 7 games. I want them to be entertaining going forward and we have to take our lumps now, I'm all for losing 14 games.
  7. This team is terrible and isn't making the playoffs, there's literally no benefit to winning games
  8. It looks very unlikely we will be able to catch the Pirates and play the WC game at Wrigley...their final series is against the Reds. Can't see them losing 2 out of 3 to that team. I like the idea someone mentioned of how Cubs fans being able to watch the Cubs win that game on the screens at Wrigley might exorcise a bit of the terror they displayed constantly in 2007 and 2008. They're not doing the viewing party at Wrigley anymore
  9. Liriano literally just held us to 1 run in 8 innings on Friday
  10. the pirates aren't starting liriano Why not? It means David Ross and Schwarber, Coghlan, Montero sitting
  11. Not ready for David Ross to start a playoff game if the Pirates start Liriano
  12. lmao is he gonna be doing our playoff games this year i don't know where to look, but someone please confirm he will not. STAT, please. It's going to be Ernie Johnson, Cal Ripken since TBS gets the NL Wild Card and NLDS games.
  13. It was 2 bloop hits and a sac fly, more annoyed than anything. That being said, this game also means literally nothing.
  14. It's no secret the Cubs tried to shop around Castro at the deadline. He's a low OBP, below average defender guy. If you can improve your rotation by trading him, you do it. The Cubs have enough middle infield talent to get by.
  15. Still think a Baez/Russell starting middle infield is appealing if you can get a good starter for Starlin. No ball is getting past that infield.
  16. He still has an OBP below .300 and an OPS below .670. Whatever the case though, hopefully his trade value is up there again. yes but at least he's only 20th on this list now http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2015&month=0&season1=2015&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=21,a not bad for semi-sporadic play over 2 months after 4 months of everyday play that had him much higher on the list It's not bad at all considering where he was but you have to be good over the course of an entire season. I know he's not going to be as good as he's been in September the entire year but at this point he's just making up for the terrible play up until July.
  17. I like Cutler, but why thank god? Aren't we already in tank mode? I know I'm in tank mode. Because the Cubs season could be over a week from today and I'm not prepared to watch uncompetitive Bears football for 3 months, or even 6 weeks. As bad as they are, they've at least proven they can compete with good teams with Cutler at the helm. If they end up with a 3 or 4 win season and a Top 5 pick, great, but it's against my nature not to root for Bears wins. And unlike baseball, football season is far too short not to enjoy every game. Don't see how winning games at this point is enjoyable. The Bears started 1-11 in 1997 and then won 3 of the last 5 and ended up missing out on Peyton Manning. I hope they go 0-16.
  18. He still has an OBP below .300 and an OPS below .670. Whatever the case though, hopefully his trade value is up there again.
  19. The Astros are still struggling to get fans back after their tankathon even with their terrific season
