Hader gives up a tying homer in the 8th then gives up a take the lead homer in the ninth. Sadly Will Smith blew the save and it’s headed to extras. -
Poor Darvish, dude can’t buy a win. Got some runs in with the bases load, still felt like we should’ve piled on more, especially runners freezing on balls that were clearly down. Nice to open the break getting a 2 out hit to get the winning run in!!

Finally caught up on the DVR. Fast forwarded through all of Darvish’s innings. Expect a run by the Pirates now that I caught up.

I dont understand giving a horsefeathers about the Brewers right now when the whole division is a series sweep away from first place. Should we really cheer for the Pirates when they could catch up so easily. I just stopped paying attention to the standings altogether. The Cubs just need to win games consistently. That's all I give a horsefeathers about. Unfortunately they are not being consistently disciplined at the plate right now and they deserve to lose a lot with their awful approach. I wasn’t being too serious. Just funny that we are somehow in first at the break. One of these teams is going to go on a run in the 2nd half. Hopefully it is the Cubs.

Nova's approach at this point is "huck it over the plate and hope the BABIP gods bail me out." A few weeks ago they did, but I wouldn't give too much credit when a guy walks 2 and K's 1 over five innings. He's just a guy who came into that game with a 6 something ERA, who actually "deserves" a 5 something ERA, and finally got some positive regression. Nova gets a fly out to the wall by Schwarber(102mph) caught and a rocket by Rizzo(113) caught. Living good.

1st place by ourselves!! Kimbrel’s stuff looked wicked and missed a ton of bats. Got to clean up those walks. All of his save opportunities he had a walk that made the inning more drama filled than it needed to be.
