Yan Gomes ramming into him is Drew Smyly’s version of Trey Mancini executing Marcus Stroman.

Typically teams in a race try to win games. I was thinking they’d use Smyly/Wesneski to get through 6ish. Thought Smyly would be pulled after we took the lead, let a runner on, or 2 runners on. Heck even after he gave up the homer he faced 2 more batters. It was dumb. Agree to disagree I guess..

Smyly starting wasn’t the issue, it was trying to force him through the 4th after we got the lead.

We have a chance because the offense and the pen hasn’t given anything up yet. Giving up 7 runs in 3.2 from your starter is your great recipe for winning.

This next inning will probably decide the game. Need another shutdown inning in the bottom half and hope that Bellinger, Dansby, Sieya, and Candy can get something going in the top half.

Even if you don’t care enough to debate Smyly/Wesneski, Smyly should’ve been done after the Cubs got the lead. Try to win the ball game. Obviously geared towards Tom, but the quotes are silly now.

Ross traded 2 outs for 4 runs instead of taking out Smyly to start the inning. Genius.

First runner Smyly allowed this inning he should’ve been pulled. You put yourself in the lead, then we should’ve gone for it. Wesneski, Rucker, Palencia would’ve been better options to help get us through 7.

Nathaniel Lowe comes through with a 2 run double. speaking of the Rangers I almost used Jason Marquis for Cardinals/Rangers for Immaculate Grid. Then I remembered I associated Marquis with the Rangers because he served up #600 to Sammy. I ended up going with Brian Jordan!

Detroit has the ERA advantage in 2 of the 3 pitching matchups. Also if the Phillies lose tonight we can move 2 games back in the LOSS column of WC1. Phillies and Giants play 3 Mon-Wed So if we can manage a sweep we will gain 3 games on either WC2 or WC1 or a combo of both.

Amaya has finally passed Hosmer in at bats this season. A combo of Amaya being hit by a pitch a lot and how few games he has started.
