Oddly, I’ve always been a fan of guys not making it and getting a chance to get away for a few days, but then I also realize if nobody makes it, that’s not a good sign either. The whole team went in 16 and we won the whole thing!!
Remember when he actually won EOY? Seems like a lifetime ago...but it was probably due to the Keith Bogans signing that almost put us on the mountain top.
Thanks for sharing that. One of my favorite Cubs' players of all-time. Aramis was awesome and very underrated. He should have a role on this team or rather in the organization. Maybe as a special assistant, or hitting instructor/mentor to our young players at our Dominican Academy, etc. Wanted some good vibes in the thread. A classic moment for sure. I have a hard time understanding how Aramis wouldn’t be among anyone’s favorites!
You got everything you mentioned right, although the wildest/funniest part was that Sosa and Girardi (who hit the single that started the play) were also in simultaneous rundowns at second and first respectively. That play seemed to take like 5 minutes but was really not that much longer than your average rundown. Also the Mongo ejection by Angel Hernandez in 01. I was working at a chain restaurant as a cook during the 07 game listening on the radio while I was in college . I remember being so pissed when we blew that game. Thankfully Sori delivered in the bottom of the 9th.
Eyre and Howry give up 6 in the 9th to blow a 4 run lead but with the likes of Pagan, Rob Bowen, and Koyie Hill batting in the bottom half you just knew it wasn’t over.
