The Cubs' payroll has dropped $50m over a four-year span. Last offseason featured the front office voluntarily not spending money it was given. The result was yet another last-place finish. Histrionics, as you call them, are warranted. Because the Cubs weren't interested in winning, more developing talent. And that talent is starting to get here. Not spending money got us Kris Bryant and Kyle Schwarber among others, it'll all pay off. If they don't start spending soon though, I'll be with you. They went out and spent money on Joe Maddon and Joe Maddon doesn't come here if the Cubs aren't interested in spending money these next few years.
