  3. -- Nate in his new book. Anyone else reading it?
  4. Fortunately (or unfortunately...?) the user Slide Castro Slide is incorrect. Yes, the OP was thrilled when Hendry was fired, and was mildly thrilled when Theo was hired but the OP doesn't really have a problem with a rebuilding year or three. The point is that people give Theo a free pass instead of berating some of his poor decisions. He did wreck the Red Sox recently. We can't ignore that.
  5. Will do.
  6. The worst cub team in nearly fifty years.... If theo was anyone else, would nsbb be bitching and moaning calling for his head right now? I think so
  7. this is pure comedy
  8. I'll take that.
  9. 6 out of the last 9 years a team has been over by 10 or more wins 2011 +10 Orioles 2009 +10 Mariners 2008 +12 Angles 2007 +11 Diamondbacks 2005 +11 Diamondbacks 2004 +12 Yankees

  11. *really* sucks .302 obp.... shoulda traded him. okay he doesn't suck (too much), but he's a guy who will probably never be a consistent obp threat and some idiot GMs will pay top dollar for him because he knows how to "hit".
  12. I take this as an indication that whoever is coming back is either a position player or definitely not going to make the majors this year. Of course, I could be reading too much into this No. Even if we trade for a pitcher who is major-league ready he won't be in St Louis in time to start - if he has five days rest. If he had less than 5 days of rest, then he certainly would not be able to start. This is solving the issue of having a starter - nothing more. They may not anticipate trading Dempster for a non-major league ready starter, but this does not give any indication either way. It's irrelevant.
  13. Vitters = Joe Randa... take it as you wish as a glass half empty/half full debate
  14. I love how the new system is supposed to protect small market teams and in year 1 we're all talking about the pirates getting screwed. thanks bud
  15. You know, trading Castro would be a bright move if we got a good haul. He's a terrible defender, going to be expensive in his prime (if only because he's a shortstop who hits .310), who doesn't know that four pitches mean you get on base and will probably play third for almost all -- if not all -- of his thirties. I mean Castro's a good player and all, but he's never going to be as good as people around baseball think he is. He's a two tool player (average and speed). He's pretty lackluster outside of that and he's going to be paid because he can hit .310, even if his obp is under .350. Dont get me wrong, hes a good player but he will never be a guy to build your team around and is a great guy to have around as your second or third best position player. No team will ever make the playoffs if Castro is their best player.
