  1. Maybe when they change the strike zone, umpires will decide to learn what that one looks like.
  2. Hopefully Addy has that OPS in the mid .700s by the all star game. If it's under .700 I'll feel like a Royals fan.
  3. I posted this in the game thread, but would anyone take the over on one start in LF for Willson this season in the majors? Like if they think he has a ways to go with receiving/game calling and don't trust him to catch this season, come August and September, will he force his way into the lineup in other ways? He's supposed to be fairly athletic and has played other positions in the minors.
  4. over/under one start in LF for Willson Contreras this season
  5. La Stella and his .927 OPS vs righties should be in the lineup a lot more than he has been.
  6. I googled Lana Berry and I still have no idea who she is.
  7. He could probably put up a better UZR/150 than Correa
  8. IF YOU CALL FOR A BREAKING BALL DON'T BACKHAND IT
  9. What on earth does that include, if not pitch framing? I have him at 18% CS as a Cub, and the wild pitches look bad when you take into account the fact he's caught fewer innings than most on the list. The fact that he was worth 2 wins in 113 games and that doesn't take into account pitch framing even a little. Hm? I was just talking about the "obvious" defensive things like throwing and blocking. I'm not doubting he's a useful player, and I'm also not poo-pooing framing, either, as I do believe in that. I was just commenting on how bad he is at those obvious things while being such a good framer.
  10. He was solidly above average last year without accounting for (elite) pitch framing even slightly. What on earth does that include, if not pitch framing? I have him at 18% CS as a Cub, and the wild pitches look bad when you take into account the fact he's caught fewer innings than most on the list.
  11. It's kind of hilarious how awful Montero is at all of the obvious stuff. Fortunately for him, it's 2016 and can make a living off of framing. Like I don't know if he's thrown a ball to 2nd in the air as a Cub.
  12. I continue to find it pretty unsettling how hard the front office is trying to not have Contreras 3rd on the organizational catching depth chart.
  13. That's gonna make for an awkward bottom of the 8th.
  14. That Knicks joke was JD's most dad joke ever. And you can just tell how much the Dodgers players hate Puig, and that's not gonna help.
  15. Gary Jones would've tackled Bryant rounding 3rd anyway
  16. Definitely a chance. Seemed more hamstring strain-y as he was leaving the field, but maybe not.
  17. Quick, hit another dong, Jorge, so we can trade you to Atlanta.
  18. Gary Jones is the Gary Gergich of the organization
  19. God damn, that's worse than any send he's had this year, and he's had some bad ones. I can't believe that.
  20. FFS, Gary Jones. Crawford is in medium depth LF moving sideways, that's an easy send.
  21. Wait a second, the game tomorrow is at 4:00, and it's not on national TV?
  22. Nice, I might have had the most incorrect bold prediction in the bold prediction thread by saying Starlin would double Zobrist's WAR. Man this dude is impressive.
  23. There are still a lot of things I hate about him, but I think I feel the most comfortable when Lackey's pitching. Arietta's obviously great, but has had some weird control issues at times. Lester's also been great, but there's always the chance of something hilariously embarrassing unfolding. Lackey just attacks the hitters, always goes deep into games, and he can throw over-hand to bases.
  24. In a vacuum I'd love to deal Soler for Teheran, but I just don't see that happening with the current makeup of the roster. You can't take Hendricks out of the rotation; he's the superior pitcher. And as much as he's struggled in the 2nd half in the past, I doubt they'll take Hammel out with a high 2s/low 3s ERA. I mean unless we just have a huge lead in the division near the deadline and we want to go with a 6 man rotation to keep everyone fresh, and plan ahead a bit to decline Hammel's option. But that would be kind of weird to worry about Hammel's replacement for next season during this season. Unless there's a notable injury, I think the focus will be on upgrading the bullpen, preferably by adding a lefty. I also think Maddon will continue to try to put Soler in favorable spots and then they'll explore a trade in the offseason.
