    Not good news? They don't want him. They worked with him for like 8 years. If they decide that they don't want him based off that, I'm not sure how that's bad news. I'm still not sure what the Francona selling points are... can somebody give me anything (don't bother hitting reply if you're going to talk about rings or something)? Francona seems like a 'safe' choice in that it's proven he will buy into the theories and philosophy of Theo/Hoyer.

    The Cubs might be in situation where they have no choice but to go with Tito. What if Sveum takes the Boston job and Maddux decides he doesn't want to manage. Then you are down to the bench coaches of Philly and Boston(neither seem like serious candidates) and Sandy Alomar Jr. who made an ass of himself with his interview comments.

    Just a heads up, ChicagoNow is very close to the BleacherReport. The content authors are basically just fans like us and have no inside sources or access. The "long term contract" theory was just pointless speculation, more than likely it's a simple meet and greet between player and team president.

    Morally, I think the owners are more in the wrong, but the players are foolish if they think they will ever win this. They just don't understand that many owners would rather miss the season(considering they will probably lose money on the current deal) and hold firm to their demands.
