  1. I have a bunch of questions I would ask to prospective GM candidates: [*]How do you feel about the current state of the Cubs' minor league system/prospects in relation to other clubs? [*]How do you feel about dealing with S. Boras clients, and do you feel it is worth dealing with him considering some of the onerous contracts given out to players represented by him? [*]What is your philosophy in preventing injuries to minor league pitchers? (pitch counts, possibly changing mechanics, developing a long-toss program, drafting pitchers with low mileage on their respective arms, etc.) [*]What would be your immediate plan of action for this upcoming FA period for the Chicago Cubs organization if you were GM? [*]How important is a manager overall to the success of a big league ballclub? Is it just managing egos and maintaining order in the clubhouse, or can they strongly affect the performance of the players on the field? [*]How strong an attraction is the city and ballpark itself in bringing in Free Agents, and how can it be better exploited? (Personally, I think Chicago is the best city in America and I know a lot of players feel that way as well) [*]Lastly, when do you feel the Cubs can be truly competitive again and make the postseason? (The answer better be 2-3 yrs max) We've already discussed how the new GM has to be well-versed in statistical analysis. That's obvious. My top candidate and choice is also Rays GM, A. Friedman and then it would be B. Cherington. The last thing I wanna say is I don't get all the love for Kim Ng. I mean would anyone seriously care about her if she weren't a woman? Are her credentials really better than all the other candidates's resumes? I know people want the Cubs to be progressive and forward thinking, but I don't want the Cubs to hire a woman as GM unless she is far and away the best candidate out there. Quite frankly, I don't think she is. Maybe I'm just a misogynistic jerk...
