  1. Oh lord, Dennys Reyes is in. Cubs have a good chance to tee off on this BP pitcher.
  2. Gregg got him anyway. Rasmus is the anti-clutch.
  3. ...I said, as he walks Lee on 4 pitches.
  4. Ooh, the 'Hawk' is in the game. I like this kid. Reminds me of Wainwright in 2006.
  5. Aside from the RBI earlier tonight... Albert has been 0'fer this series. We maybe Cubs fans, but we ain't that stupid. Pujols is like a scorpion waiting to strike. There goes Albert trying to pull everything again. Chopped out to third. I understand why people are "scared" of him (obviously)... but he does that WAAAAAAAY too much this season.
  6. Aside from the RBI earlier tonight... Albert has been 0'fer this series.
  7. Aaron Miles anyone? joke account? Oh, I'm well aware of what a disaster Aaron Miles was for you guys this season. No clue what happened there - he was certainly very solid (if not spectacular) for the Cards.
  8. What do you guys think happens w/ DeRo in the offseason? The Cards have already approached him about an extension, but that looming wrist surgery worries me. Plus, he's getting up there in years.
  9. Wow. Didn't see that coming. I was starting to think you guys still had DeRo on the payroll.
  10. If Skip doesn't stop sliding into first base head first, I'm going to slap him.
  11. Wow, as someone else noted earlier - this homeplate ump is not good.
  12. If Mike Shannon calles Fukudome "Costco" one more time I am going to vomit.
  13. Ah crap. Now Fontenot annoys me even more. :(
  14. Both of the offenses have been awful this series. I know both teams ran out the top of their lineups for this series... but 3-2, 2-1, and currently 0-0? Really? Yuck.
  15. Waino and Zambrano are carving hitters up tonight.
  16. Wow, Zambrano pwned DeRo on that strike-3 pitch.
  17. Neither are Joe Thurston or Rick Ankiel - but we keep them around for some reason.
  18. Hey, it worked. Blurg. And now Waino walks Fuku.
  19. I really think their biggest worry is going to be keeping Carpenter and Wainwright around when their deals are up. I have no idea when that is, but I'm fairly certain Wainwright is FA eligible after 2010 or 2011 and Carp's deal has to be up around the same time. You can have all the offense you want, but if the other team scores 6 runs a game you're screwed. And I don't think they've got anything worth getting excited about in terms of starters anywhere close to the majors. Of course if Duncan stays, all they need is a couple of guys like Daniel Cabrera and Jeff Weaver to show up and they'll have two cheap Cy Young candidates. Carpenter: 5 years/$63.5M (2007-11), plus 2012 club option Wainwright: 4 years/$15M (2008-11), plus 2012, 2013 club options When Carp's contract is up, he will be 36. If they exercise the option, he'll be 37. The chances of him pitching anything like he is now by then are very slim. When that deal is up, the Cards aren't likely to want Carp anymore. Waino is locked up 'til 2011, thru 2013 with options. Not worried about him for a while. (Lohse is also locked up until 2012). As for Daddy Duncan - he seems quite irked about the Cards dumping off his kid, Chris. He may be on his way out of town. As for our minor league pitching prospects: We only have a few with any upside. The fact that Mitchell Boggs is pitching for us tonight is a good indicator. Jaime Garcia is coming back from surgery - he might be a contributor. Shelby Miller is the new kid we just signed. Way to soon to know if he'll live up to the hype (or close to it).
  20. That's ludicrous. Bradley has clearly had a tough year - but he has a lot of talent and I think it's still a little early to just give up on him to the extent of releasing him and eating his salary. Seems outrageous. His attitude has gotten a little crazy - but that's pretty much par for the course w/ Milton, is it not?
