  1. DeRosa has been 1 win above replacement on the year which makes him a roughly average player. I think selling high on him was probably the right move though I don't really like the package they got back so maybe it wasn't really selling high.
  2. Jeff Suppan making that list is just so absurd that I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight! Pretty surprised to see Garland towards the top too though I guess it makes sense, I just don't think of him as a future 300 guy at all.
  3. I could see him retire in 5 years, especially if he continues to have little injuries every season. Looking at his career arc the safe money is that his best years are behind him even though he is still young, sort of a Livan Hernandez type path. Probably something that could be blamed on Dusty abusing him early in his career only he managed to come out of it without a major arm injury. Five years is a long time though and things can change so obviously this is just all talk right now.
  4. A 6 game suspension doesn't even lead to a missed start. It means he has a start pushed back two days and that very well could mean no games missed at all depending on when his final start before the all star break is. I don't see what is wrong with calling that a slap on the wrist because that is exactly what it is. I'd like to see baseball take a lot harder stance on suspensions in general(which was probably pretty obvious from the tone of my post!). I see no reason at all to try to appeal that though, Zambrano has to be happy with that judgment.
  5. Zambrano has to be beside himself in relief that he got such a pathetic suspension, I cannot imagine there is any reason to appeal it. I'm not going to pass judgement here as to what he should have received for a suspension but a 6 game suspension for a pitcher is about the smallest smack on the wrist you can get. Basically the league is saying he did nothing wrong with that weak sentence.
