  1. http://i.imgur.com/v2MWpef.gif I'm sorry, Tangled Up in Plaid, this isn't 'Nam, this is a game thread. There are rules.
  2. No dice. It has to involve multiple runs allowed for me to consider it a Jaxon meltdown. That was just business as usual.
  3. First time this year, at AA, that Pierce hasn't walked at least 2 batters.
  4. I think Theo stole Bosio's magic pixie dust that was reserved for Jaxon and left-handed Jaxon and gave it to our minor league managers to use on the prospects.
  5. It was off Robert Stephenson, too.
  6. He walked 202 guys and still had a 2.98 FIP. How did his elbow remain intact, with the amount of pitches he threw and at that velocity?
  7. Those PA against younger pitchers numbers remind me of all the guys Bryce Harper is younger than when he is on rehab every other month. It's going to be really crazy when Julio Urias is rehabbing from Tommy John surgery in 2017.
  8. Yeah, isn't Fujikawa at 88-89 right now? But, he's probably up at some point next week, anyway. The day off Monday is going to help with the bullpen being taxed, though. Might need Rusin to pitch about 4 innings with Jaxon starting tomorrow.
  9. He's taking a lot of pitches lately, too. His first week or so, he seemed to be jumping on the first pitch a ton, but he's working a lot of deep counts lately. I think he probably could have a few more walks even; I'm not positive what his two-strike approach is like right now, but he looks very comfortable up there.
  10. Yeah, I mean, it's again like "any player's ceiling is an All-Star." But, with his base running and at least decent defense at a premium position, his floor looks really high to me. It's just nice to have a non-"Core Four" member, that I can reasonably assume to at least be a 2-win player -- especially with the contact problems of some of the other prospects, and the fact that I was extremely worried about his contact and patience, as well.
  11. Alcantara is going to be really good, isn't he? I'm drooling over the possible value from plus defense at a premium position, with great base running, and a solid bat. He's been way more patient and made way more contact than I assumed he would. He also isn't chasing balls out of the zone, at this point. He could easily walk at a league-average rate, and make contact at a near league-average rate, with slightly above league-average power. Am I crazy to think he could be, like, a 4-win player next year?
  12. What's Wada's contract situation look like? Not that I'm, like, really excited about him or anything, but do we have him cost controlled, and he still needs to go through arbitration and everything? Or is he just signed on a one-year deal or something? I have no idea how this works with a minor league free agent, who has never actually pitched in the majors before this year.
  13. Can someone explain to me why Parker didn't start out the year with us... or why it took this long to get up and stay up? I know there was an overflow of pen arms, but mainly I don't understand the whole Schlitter over him thing. Why on earth do we care if a 4.6 K/9 guy gets major league innings? The only way he is any good is if he gets a ton of ground balls and doesn't walk anyone. And he has done that, to his credit, but it leaves him where he is at: just about average for a pen arm. And that is his best outcome. Give me all 9+ K/9 guys; we can do that, seriously. There is just so much more upside in them.
  14. That's a win! I really like this team right now... well, except for on Jaxon and left-handed Jaxon days.
  15. Grimm with a solid outing. I really wish he would quit walking guys. But, I still like him in the long-term.
  16. I'm in on the mini-Doug Fister.
  17. Can we end the Wainwright over Kershaw for Cy Young nonsense after tonight... please, Redbird fans?
  18. When is the earliest we see Cease? Most certainly not at all in the minor league season next year, right? But, would he be ready for fall instructs?
  19. Wow... that was a shot. Are we sure he is just a 15-or-so HR guy? I guess I take the scouts word on it, but it seems like a 20 year old with that kind of ridiculous bat speed who's jacking up HRs in the Southern League at this rate would project a higher power ceiling. Yeah, the main thing making me question it is his age and the level he is doing it at. I wouldn't really question what the scouting report says on his power because of a small sample of games. But, his age, solid frame, and everything else makes me think the 15-20 HR potential might need to be 15-25 HR. I'm not questioning him being a 15-HR type of guy; it's just, him being a 20-25-HR guy wouldn't exactly shock me.
  20. Wow... that was a shot. Are we sure he is just a 15-or-so HR guy?
  21. What does Welington think he is doing taking walks?
  22. It only works if I genuinely post something negative. No reverse mojo, no intentionally trying to trigger it. Good, because I have been pleasantly surprised by his smooth transition -- most specifically in his ability to make contact. Just wanted to make sure that wasn't going to go away.
  23. Since I am new here, can someone explain to me if Kyle's sorcery can be used only for good, or does it work the other way also? Because Alcantara just had a plate appearance with three swinging strikes after his positive article about Mendy's contact% -- which great article, btw.
