  1. I'm just glad Gallo is running away with the other two categories in the Great All or Nothing Race. Gallo's got a 41.7% K% and a 56.3% contact% at AA.
  2. I should add: Bryant's contact% ended up at 67.7% in July. And it was at 67.5% for this month, through five games, entering today. So still scary.
  3. If we called him and Soler up right now I'm fairly confident we'd play well enough to end up outside of protected pick status. I honestly think we would, also.
  4. Fun with arbitrary endpoints: Kris Bryant in his last 105 PA (since July 10): 17.1% BB% and 22.9% K%
  5. Is Zagunis going to get a promotion this year?
  6. When did the 48 hours deadline officially start?
  7. Welp, TIL Larry Beinfest is no longer with the Marlins. Yeah, they pushed him out and Jennings kinda helped in pushing him out; there was a lot of in-fighting. And Jennings only got the job because Loria viewed him as one of his minions. I'm not saying that Jennings is solely responsible for the bad moves, but he pretty much eschews analytics, from what I know. And he was kind of a snake, with the whole Beinfest being pushed out because of him ordeal. I am not positive on that, but I remember reading some things to that effect. And, he hasn't exactly hit any home runs this year. I would be pretty scared about him pulling a Kevin Towers and squandering their young talent.
  8. http://m.mlb.com/video/v20079103/milchc-aramis-belts-a-walkoff-homer-for-the-cubs/?query=aramis+walk+off ETA: He's had... a lot http://m.mlb.com/video/search?query=aramis+walk+off Thank you. Like David, I was looking all over for this about a month ago or so and never found it. That was a great moment. I wasn't able to watch it live, but remember listening to Pat and Ron. I guess I should have started posting on here earlier, and I would have had the video in an instant.
  9. Well, since ground balls have a higher BABIP than fly balls, and 6.4% of balls hit on the ground that don't even leave the infield are hits... But, yes, continue thinking that, Kris, if it means you continue to hit baseballs really, really far instead.
  10. Really nice to see him get things done out there. He has great command. Keeps guys off-balance with all his pitches; paints the corners; induces a ton of weak ground-outs with all his good, downward movement. Just great to see. He needs pinpoint command and great control to succeed, and he has shown both. That change-up is a nice out-pitch, too. Big fan over here.
  11. Javier Baez K-rate: 21.4% And a .643 ISO
  12. Yeah, so, Hendricks is pretty good, too, guys. I know pitchers inducing ground balls and not walking guys isn't as sexy as Javy, but :good: for Kyle to get major league hitters out with his weak-ass velocity.
  13. Yeah, Javy has smooth, easy power. It just kinda floated out.
  14. What!? Do they think they are still in the playoff race or something? And, if so... Brad Penny? That's who they are using to replace Turner? The 36-year-old who hasn't pitched in two years and hasn't had a sub-5 FIP or ERA since 2010? They just traded a top-100 prospect, who was drafted 6th overall a year ago, and another guy that was a top-100 guy before the season plus a comp pick for a guy in Cosart with a career 1.26 K/BB rate. I mean, Cosart has a worse FIP and xFIP than Turner this year. Sure, Turner's fortune hasn't been all because of bad BABIP luck. But, they are essentially the same pitcher right now, except Turner is slightly younger and doesn't have any options left. So, I was already kinda confused, but... Brad Penny? And why not just put Turner in the pen? I have no idea what the Marlins are doing. But, their front office is an absolute joke, when you look at this, the Cosart trade, and the Bryan Morris trade. They must not look at analytics, like, at all. Well, if Marisnick hadn't exhausted his rookie eligibility this year, he'd be nowhere near a top 100 list. He's going on 200 PAs of pathetic major league performance and was fairly meh in AAA this season. It's not as if Cosart is without a pedigree to himself. And calling Cosart and Turner the same pitcher because their FIPs match up is so lazy. Bryan Morris has been pretty [expletive] fantastic since coming over, but yeah that trade appeared screwy, but it's quite possible teams don't value draft picks in the 30s(and I'm not certain they should?) Don't get me wrong, I think it's a dumb move to dump Turner to get Flynn on the 25 man or Penny on the 40 man, but talking about the Marlins FO being an absolute joke with their track record while working for the worst owner in professional sports(who no doubt is behind this "playoff push") is pretty damn stupid. No, they've been an absolute joke. Jennings is Loria's little hand puppet, which is why he got the job, so I guess I can forgive him some on that account. And, Cosart and Turner do have pretty similar results. High groundball rates, low K-rates -- with Cosart getting more grounders and giving up less HR/FB, while also walking more guys. They've done it differently: Cosart throws harder, but also only has two pitches. Cosart certainly looks a little better right now, but he's still really... meh. The difference in the two should not be the difference between DFA'ing one and giving up what they did for the other (though, I agree Marisnik is pretty much just bad, they still gave up too much value). And, it's not so much that they should worry about trading picks in the 30s; it's that they shouldn't trade for 27-year-old relievers that have been sub-replacement level.
  15. More like: "I'll give you Rademacher." "Maybe; how many RBI's does he have?" "Or would you rather have Jensen?" "I'm not sure; how many wins does he have?"
  16. Give them what they want. It's for the best that we stay in their good graces for future trading sake, because that is a front office to target for an unbalanced trade.

  18. Junior Lake, since May 31 (and, yes, I included May 31 specifically because he was 0-5 with 3 K's that day and had 2 BB the day before -- sue me): .169/.181/.272 and 1/45 BB/K That's over 138 PA. So his 32.6% K% over that span has actually brought his season K-rate down. Oh, he also has only 1 extra-base hit since June 18th, a span of 75 AB.
  19. Should have just pitched Jaxon in every game of this series and put him out of his misery.
  20. Olt, Ramirez and who's the last one? Our erstwhile closer, Veras.
