  1. Let's get Jake a W to make up for all the bullcrap.
  2. Ugh... if they hadn't have ran into an out, I would have lost it.
  3. I'm just gonna assume that the guy who has went nearly a full calendar year with a sub-1.00 ERA has had some amazing BABIP luck along the way and that this is just settling the score. Because this whole game has been stupid with the BABIP and the zone.
  4. I wish he could throw about 150 pitches today, because this stuff is freaking nasty.
  5. They are incapable of doing so. They just suck too much.
  6. Stop the presses, Albert Almora walked.
  7. Looks like the offense sucks again today Yup Where did you go yesterday?
  8. Ah, taking the Vinestal approach. I like it.
  9. They weren't fluky hits. It was a sharp grounder through a hole and a little blooper, just in front of an outfielder. Those happen all the time. It's baseball.
  10. 38 pitches already, too. Better be ready to score some runs, fellas.
  11. How in the hell does a guy that big beat that out?
  12. This. This was pretty much what I meant to say. Just seems like a good spot to give Rizzo a day off. Yep. It's like, "Well, I want to keep everyone fresh, so I m going to give Rizzo a day soon. Well, today looks as good as any to do so." Joe probably doesn't care who we are playing, who is pitching for the other team, or really anything the rest of the year, in regards to maximizing our chances to win. It's all about putting certain guys in positions to succeed and keeping the other guys -- the stars -- healthy, well-rested, and ready to go.
  13. It's not so much that Rizzo is sitting against a tough lefty matchup. It's that Rizzo gets a day off, which we can afford, being that we are going to win the division by 45 games. And it comes at a nice time, with a tough lefty matchup on the mound for them, and Jake on the mound for us. It's less about the matchups and more about finding days off for starters and keeping bench guys like Szczur fresh.
  14. Dexter Fowler playing at a 9-win pace is the most unfair thing ever. He and Zobrist make me not even care about Heyward struggling.
  15. Top ranked LHP...He and Perez were two of a handful of pitchers - if that - already 6'3"+...Already in the low 90s...I'd say he stacks with Steele/ Sands/ Underwood/Blackburn as amateurs. Yunior Perez, the other higher profile pitcher, was one of three 7/2 IFAs McDaniel gave the fastball a future 60 and current 50 to last year. He's got the biggest frame of the three and IIRC the youngest. ---- With a first inning HR, Ian Rice brought his MWL average to .400. I don't know how much about him but he is a C and was drafted by both the Cardinals and Red Sox. Rice also has a very Cub-like 19/14 BB/K.
  16. This is where I'm at. I actually thought the exact same thing this morning. It's like, "Oh, yay, we're on pace to break the all-time wins record." But, really I feel like we need to be on pace to win 120+. That way, during our next rut, it won't be like, "Oh, no, we might only win 110." Instead it will be like "Oh, no, now we are barely on pace to break the record." We need that little bit of breathing room.
  17. Good stuff. I'm interested to see if we can make any sense of Jorge based off of this stuff. I'm really a nerd for all of this new data. I think it's going to do some amazing things for our understanding of baseball. I was thinking of doing a piece on Soler, but I think my next one is going to be about Javy instead.
