  1. The luck for one half inning has finally changed. Sure, the 2016 Cubs would have run this dweeb out after scoring seven runs in the first two innings, but it's a start.
  2. Only when he brushes Heyward on the way back to the dugout. The failed prediction was now worth it with this response.
  3. Would like to see Happ try to steal third with the hope they throw the ball in the outfield and he can score.
  4. Schwarber is going to hit a really long dong this inning.
  5. Come on, two outfielders running into each other on a fly ball doesn't happen if there isn't some bad luck going on. You watch, the Pirates will catch one easily the next inning.
  6. i mean rizzo had a great AB that wound up resulting in a pop up, happ hit a line drive up the middle right at the SS, and schwarber scalded a ball just foul down the line ALL THIS BAD LUCK. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE.
  7. My money is on David. Duker won't give up until they are mathematically eliminated. I don't think David will purposely hang on that long. Should be a good race, though. Better than the NL Central one.
  8. This is meatbally I think, but the Cubs have got to figure out a way to knock this crap off. You have to score runs against some dweeb with zero outs and your 3-4-5 hitters up with runners on second and third. Stop sucking so bad, please.
  9. What we need to happen is for the Cubs to sweep the Pirates and the Yankees to sweep the vaunted Brewers. It can only happen by first winning this game.
  10. At the very least I'm thankful that we are still only three out in the loss column despite horribly underachieving. Because this same exact team would be nine games out in the NL East and 14 in the NL West, and in those instances we'd all have to pretty much concede the season is over.
  11. Yeah, was hoping for a better than three-game winning streak during that 13 straight stretch against teams under .500, but it just didn't happen.
  12. I will say that in the short term, the Cubs could make things fun by sweeping the Pirates without having to face Cole and also have the Yankees sweep the vaunted Brewers. I think the Yankees aren't playing well right now, but that would be cool.
  13. Yeah, yeah. I know. Steamers projections. They are garbage. We will win by 10 games and be resting starters in the last week. But just in case you're wrong, this is another possibility. It really has nothing to do with any projections or anything. It's the simple fact that is 4.5 games with half the season to go. But, sure, if they take off and play like the 2015 Cubs, with Matt Garza, Junior Guerra, Zach Davies, and Brent Suter making 80% of their starts, then they could run away with the division. I just don't like as we have continued this convo for the past month that the number of games back keeps going in the wrong direction. This isn't the way either of us wanted it to work.
  14. This is actually perhaps going to be accurate. The vaunted Brewers have done that thing this season where they never were worse than two games above .500. Now at like seven games over, they are one 10 out of 14 stretch from locking this up. The Brewers aren't anywhere close to locking anything up. Yeah, yeah. I know. Steamers projections. They are garbage. We will win by 10 games and be resting starters in the last week. But just in case you're wrong, this is another possibility.
  15. This is actually perhaps going to be accurate. The vaunted Brewers have done that thing this season where they never were worse than two games above .500. Now at like seven games over, they are one 10 out of 14 stretch from locking this up. The Brewers need to play at a 107 win pace for the rest of the year to win as many games as the 2015 Cubs, in a drastically inferior division. Not the actual record, but how they hovered around .500 and then took off. Yes, they won't get to 97 wins.
  16. The scary thing is that they have 5 top 50 prospects that either havent reached the majors yet or have gotten pretty much 0 contributions from to get to this point. That's actually the part that irritates the hell out of me. We were supposed to win this division easy this season, and we are trailing a 62-million payroll team that had no intentions of trying to compete. Weird season. But 2016 was worth it.

  18. That moment when you realize he could dong, we could load the bases again and dong, and still be down by one.
  19. Man, some of you are going to be really sad when we trade Wade Davis at the deadline.
  20. Stop believing people when they say that. No one's suggested the Cubs team we've ween the first half of the season is good. The suggestion is that they will do better. I meant the part where the Brewers suck.
  21. Will be interesting to see what the vaunted Brewers do at the deadline. They are certainly not going to be sellers like some suggested here last month. Like us, they could use a top of the rotation guy who is controlled for multiple years. They have a better farm system than most teams and payroll available to be contenders for whichever top guy is on the trade market.
