  1. Lots of substance in that post, Jimmy. =D> If you're always a smug smart ass, you'll never get called out. Playing it safe. I may not agree with Dexter, but at least he had the decency to speak his mind in a somewhat constructive way. Do us a favor, Jimbo. When your balls drop, let us know.
  2. Oh, Jim Hendry, hast thou lost thy mind? You sign Fukudome for way too much and now you're stuck with an overpaid, overhyped bust who doesn't know how to make basic adjustments at the plate. You get rid of Kerry Wood, who has demonstrated that he has the potential to pull a John Smoltz and who has been a class act for 10 seasons on your ballclub. He also said he wanted to come back. And you replace him with... Kevin Gregg. Probably your best move so far. If only because it's not really a downgrade so much as a push. You get rid of Mark DeRosa, a fan favorite who was arguably the most valuable player on the team last year, certainly the most versatile. And you replace him with... Aaron Miles. Aaron Miles? I like Fontenot, but he's as yet unproven as far as being an every day player. You trade a bona fide 5th starter for a reliever who may or may not get his form back. You sign Milton Bradley for 3 years, passing on Raul Ibanez and Adam Dunn, who was vocal about coming here. But you must know more than us. You must know something about Bradley we don't know. Like we know that he's a head case. And we know that he has had only 1 season in 9 with over 450 ABs. And we know that he gets hurt like it's nobody's business. Surely, you must know something. Oh yeah, this is the year. I can feel it.
  3. And if he juiced? Would you still lament "what might have been"? I mean, really, at least Mark Fidrych was likable. Next, people will be saying Rick Wilkins could have been a Mike Piazza.
  4. Gee, I wonder why. So, do I (without the sarcasm). 1. My 86-year old grandma is more durable than him. 2. He had 1 outstanding season. 3. He was a prime candidate for 'roids. 4. He was surly with the media. 5. He was mad that Joe Mauer was picked ahead of him in the draft. Again, why do people care what happens to this douche?
  5. They're going to have a formidable lineup. Lots of strikeouts, but also lots of pop. With some speed on the bases.
  6. People still care about Mark Prior?
  7. Careful, that stat is skewed in Dunn's favor. ? Last 3 seasons: Dunn: 577 total runs Ibanez: 606 total runs In the heat of the moment, I misspoke. I realize now that doesn't make any sense, but the point stands. Dunn has 153 more walks than Ibanez. Ibanez has 143 more hits than Dunn. Including HBP, Dunn has gotten on base 744 times while Ibanez has gotten on base 723 times. The difference is negligible. I will say this once again. Dunn is NOT "clearly" a better offensive player than Ibanez. Swallow your pride, and admit you were wrong. That's how you grow as a person. You should try it. And just to set the records straight, no, this doesn't mean I'll stay on this forum. I just wanted to clear the total bases thing up because it bothered me after I read it.
  8. Absolutely not. They say, "Flattery will get you nowhere." But derision will get you nowhere fast. Find yourselves a new pincushion.
  9. Jesus, you people are [expletive] idiots. Back to the Red Sox forum for me.
  10. lol where is this productivity stat kept i looked all over Ah, I see what might have tripped you up. What you do is you take runs scored and runs driven in and you add them together, see? It's a little something people like to call simple arithmetic.
  11. You neglected to mention (or notice) that they're even in the last 3 seasons.
  12. FP is a debatable stat because of the scorekeeper, but care to explain why range factor and assists are "garbage"? You keep saying the stats are skewed. That doesn't make any sense. If anyone is guilty of skewing the stats, it's you - by only focusing on OBP and SLG. I've compared stats for both players from the last 3 seasons. You just did it from the last 5. You're really splitting hairs here. You really think total bases is more important than productivity? Doesn't matter because... Ibanez still beats Dunn! In the last 3 seasons, Dunn has walked 153 more times than Ibanez. That's no surprise, given his OBP. However, Ibanez has 143 more hits than Dunn. That's also no surprise, given his average. But add Ibanez's hits to his total bases and add Dunn's walks to his total bases, and Ibanez comes out the winner. So, that argument is voided. Defense Ibanez > Dunn Productivity Ibanez > Dunn Total Bases Ibanez > Dunn OBP Dunn > Ibanez Clearly, Dunn is the better player.
  13. Yeah, why should they? I mean, it's not like RBIs have anything to do with productivity and hitting with RISP. I mean, how lame can you be? Right? :P :-)) :D
  14. Anyone else want to make an ass of themselves? Be my guest.
  15. By all means, call me a n00b and post dumb emoticons because you can't formulate a good argument or admit that you're wrong.
  16. that is pretty much the worst usage of statistics i've ever seen. my favorite parts were when you talked about rbi's and fielding percentage. plus it was pretty cool that you used counting stats even though they are clearly skewed since dunn has way fewer at-bats due to walking so much. excellent LOL. Whatever. I owned your ass. You said "clearly" twice. There's nothing clear about who's better offensively. Since when are RBIs a bad stat to cite? And when you say that Ibanez is a horrible fielder and I reveal that Dunn is, in fact, worse you should feel somewhat stupid. If I had gone into greater depth, I could have told you that their range factor is about the same and that Ibanez has 19 more assists from the outfield in the last 3 years.
  17. Clearly? That's a contentious claim. In the last 3 seasons, Ibanez has 40 more RBIs than Dunn, 37 more doubles, 11 more triples, 73 more total bases, and has batted .47 points higher. On the flip side, Dunn has scored 11 more runs than Ibanez, has 43 more HRs, has 14 more stolen bases, his OBP is .25 points higher, and his SLG is .27 points higher. As far as defense goes, Ibanez career FP is .987 while Dunn's is .974. So... you were saying?
  18. Isn't Dunn better than Ibanez? And a few centuries younger? I wouldn't say Dunn is better than Ibanez. You're right about the age factor, though. I didn't realize Ibanez was so old. But since he has shown no signs of losing productivity, a 1 or 2-year contract would have been a good idea. If they end up signing Dunn, they should lock him up for 3 or 4 years.
  19. I'd take Dunn over Bradley any day of the week. Besides being a major head case, last season seemed fluky to me. Plus, Bradley almost always gets hurt. With Dunn, you know what you're getting. Yes, he strikes out a lot. And yes, he'll never win a gold glove. But you're guaranteed 40 HRs, 100 RBIs, and a high OBP. 'Course, they should have gone after Ibanez. Too late now, though.
