  1. did the ref say that it was a foul on bocanegra? it would be like a ref calling a holding penalty on a game-winning touchdown and refusing to name what kind of call it was until he got an opportunity to watch the film. That's what the official word was, it's not from the ref's mouth. I don't know why he didn't tell the players on the field, my first instinct is that the language barrier was the big reason. That in itself is not a terribly uncommon situation. Anyone who counts English among their three spoken languages and is a long time soccer vet would easily be able to communicate the nature of a penalty to an American team.
  2. considering he's 20 years old and hasn't had a game off since he was called up (i think), a day off wouldn't be a bad idea. Yep, he's played every game. Got two days off during the rainout/off day sequence a couple of weeks ago.
  3. I had this exact same feeling last year, and up until June 1st. Just like 2009, that break, that winning streak is destined never to come. So you felt that way up until June 1st when they were 4 games back and in fourth place. The winning streak was destined never to come. Two months later the Cubs were in first place. :-k
  4. when the front gets there, it's going to start pouring. Maybe 15 minutes from now
  5. Just curious, but what is he saying? That any team with a scouting report would have known the Angels were likely to bunt with a man on second, no outs
  6. It pretty much does mean that most people in a country will dislike the US. Mali, however, is an exception and is one of the countries with the highest approval rates towards the US. link Aside from Senegal, no other majority Muslim country is over Bangledesh's 53% favorable rating. All others are majority unfavorable (aside from Kuwait's plurality unfavorable). The bottom of the list (most unfavorable) is Muslim countries+Argentina
  7. http://www.vuvuzela-time.co.uk/ Browse the web as if you were at a World Cup game in SA
  8. It'll be a story, but referees screwing teams is just one of the fun parts of the game and happens pretty regularly. So soccer has idiots who like the human element as well? And the fact that there's only one ref and everything else. They're much worse than the fans of other sports at wanting the rules kept the same until eternity, it seems
  9. I'm not sure if you were talking about that specific guy, but he was spitting blood after that. Although I wouldn't be too surprised if they carried around food coloring to fake blood with.
  10. He went from an .886 to a .879 OPS over that time, so somewhere around .870, or something like a OPS+ of 124. If you really wanted to know.
  11. That's quite a bit less than typical ESPN
  12. Yes. That was awesome. The first interview of the winning team and the player thanks his psychiatrist for making him less crazy
  13. The scoreboard commands.
  14. If I'm a Boston fan, I'm half-giving up after that.
  15. Is either team going to break 75 points?
  16. Coaches generally agree to get wired only if they're assured that anything interesting won't get shown. The Jackson "They lose games in the 4th quarter" speech was pretty interesting.
  17. The Lakers rebounding tonight reminds me of when I was playing as a 5 foot tall 8 year old. I just knew I was getting the ball.
  18. did they just show a replay of the Gasol block where he got no ball at all?
