  7. and making the playoffs will be bad cuz they'll continue to think spending buko bucks on mediocre players works. dmaned if we do-damned if we dont
  8. 12 innings he'll give up 0 hits, 0 runs, have 35 strikeouts (the only remaining out made by his unbeleivable dive on a line drive by pujols in the 4th inning) and hit the game winning grand slam in the top of the 12th cubs win 4-0

  11. I think you and every else who thinks this is a dumb or stupid thread are missing the point. The point is: What will it take for the Cubs to be a winning organization?? One opinion says that major suckage is the way to go. Get the fans so sick of mediocrity and consistently not making the playoffs that you'll finally see a philosophy change from managment. To be fair, we've been sucking for a long time and management hadn't really done a whole lot to change that. The other opinion is that "winning makes everything better." In other words, if we win, no matter how sloppily, management will change. I think the author's reasoning is that if we barely scrape into the playoffs, this would be enough to keep bringing the fans into Wrigley and keep managment from really changing the PHILOSOPHY of this team. There truly is a problem with this organization and it's been a problem for a long, long time. The philosophy needs an major overhall. This club has a lot of holes and it's managment's fault. I just hope either way, whether we win or lose, managment will do WHATEVER IT TAKES to bring a championship to the Northside. Ken And I KNOW it wont matter if the Cubs make the playoffs or not, they will continue down the same managerial path once the season is over. They'll use the playoffs as an excuse to do business as usual, but in reality, they are marching straight forward and have been for 5 years, that wont change. I'll take an off chance that we might actually win something in the process.
