probably not good enough to get rid of J. Jackson but I think Ellsbury right now is Fuld's ceiling. Ellsbury fills a need for CF, leadoff hitter (I know, it isn't a position) and another lefty bat in the lineup. Also, that leaves us some money in the budget to sign a backup middle infielder for 3/15. Again, Ellsbury fills those same needs for the Padres. Why would they do this? Why would they spin a guy that would be under their control and inexpensive for a few more years for someone who can't play CF, can't lead off, isn't cheap for the next few years and won't be there after 2 years? I'm not proposing to include Bradley in the deal if that is who you are talking about. As for why they would do this: probably only would happen if they like someone (or combination of someones) in our system better than Ellsbury.
