  1. Not sure what that means.. Theo pees on everyone when they make an error. But it's okay, it toughens their skin.
  2. Shields would be friggin' sweet, but honestly I kinda want McCarthy more for some reason.
  3. As a backup OF Gomes is fine for me. His BB% was 11% last year (10.9 technically). That's a good commodity to have coming off the bench in late ball games. Ross would pretty much just be Lester's personal catcher and nothing more. If they really like Castillo and plan to keep him and still pick up Ross I can't imagine them giving him any playing time outside of Lester's starts. But if you get both of them you're effectively wasting a roster spot for someone who could be more useful than a position player who is on a pitchers schedule.
  4. The video on the main page of the ESPN MLB site is Law, Olney, Ravech, Kurkjan, and Stark talking about the Cubs for like 6-7 minutes and what they can do from here on out. Trading Baez or Castro, adding another pitcher, the young prospects coming up. Pretty in depth conversation they have. And also talking about how Boston really blew it with Lester. It's actually pretty good stuff. http://espn.go.com/mlb/
  5. I think Baez's days as a Cub are numbered. I know that will make some on here happy, but I still think his potential is worth waiting on, but if he can be used to acquire a player that puts the Cubs over the top it needs to be done.
  6. I wonder if the Tigers would be willing to part with J.D. Martinez
  7. His reaction to the Sosa home run is one of my favorite Cubs things
  8. Well they don't have to be like super old or anything. Crawford would be a veteran. Hell, Montero is a veteran presence. I'm not sure they still need one, but if they're looking to land their wise old janitor type who can play the OF... I don't know, Coco Crisp maybe? I'm not really putting too much thought into it nor am I concerned at this point. If they intend to get a big bat the addition of this individual will likely be inconsequential.
  9. If they're going after one more starter I want it to be McCarthy, unless they're still shopping in the Magnolia section then [expletive] they can do whatever they want as far as I'm concerned.
  10. What I'm confused about his how Bryant got voted the best defensive 3B in the PCL this year. Was that just a matter of there not being any other good defensive 3B in the PCL or was it a Palmiero Gold Glove type of situation?
  11. He's always been a starter he just came up his first year in the bullpen initially like lots of pitching prospects do I believe. But he doesn't have many innings on the arm because, and this is just my armchair analysis looking at his numbers, he's always been a strikeout guy who also never had elite command coming up (but it was fair enough), so I imagine his pitch counts would reach higher numbers quicker than someone who works quickly and racks up innings. Probably explains a little bit why his early IP look low.
  12. Joe Maddon's thoughts: http://i.imgur.com/9aCmuOX.gif
  13. Giancarlo I would love it so much if he Marlins traded Stanton after extending him even if he didn't go to he cubs. The idea of such a false positive being proven false so quickly makes me laugh.
  14. I would think one of the best results with the most advantageous returns is Cespedes. One year left so he wont cost a metric ton. He wouldnt come cheap but hed probably cost less than others. It he'd be a huge upgrade this year and give the cubs first extension opportunities? That's my thinking. Would love to get Upton, but that might wishhful thinking.
  15. Hub said he sounded a little jealous of the attention they showed Lester. If he sees them throwing gobs of money at Lester, where they wouldn't extend him at what he deemed a fair price, then of course he's going to be bitter. At the time wasnt the rumored extension 5/75? For what he had done up to that point seemed petty fair.
  16. I lol'd but I'm also drunk at a bar so don't listen to me.
  17. Why is Jim Duquette reporting anything? Doesn't he have a team of his own to worry about?
  18. I think I saw something earlier about it being something like 12.3%?
  19. What about Castillo + whatever for Span?
  20. I think Ross's corpse is more about making Lester happy. If he's a requirement on a Lester deal, I guess. Doesn't Theo like him either way though? According to FG, if Ross were a full time catcher he'd be one of the best rated pitch framers in the game http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/jon-lesters-favorite-teammate/ So while his bat is a black hole at least the pitching should be doing just as good with him behind the plate as Montero.
  21. I'm excited to see how Arrieta's numbers will turn out next year with a competent pitch framer behind the plate.
  22. I would feel more okay losing out to the Red Sox. If the Giants sign him I will, for whatever reason, be overcome with fury.
