  1. I say yes. Rasmus used to be a patient hitter. I think he was coached to be more aggresive. I like his upside potential.
  2. My brother got me this for Christmas http://i.imgur.com/KETZThu.jpg
  3. I liked the 2004 team, I just hated how they fell on their faces to end the season. Never more evident than in this [expletive] game: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN200409300.shtml That's the greatest game Mark Prior ever pitched. Ever. And the Cubs blew it.
  4. He was doing a one-man reenactment of the "Jeremy" video.
  5. Yikes. Clearly Friedman used this to his advantage, traded him for something he wanted, and will now accept him back for pennies on the dollar.
  6. Well one can assume if he hits .240 the K's will not be at 40%. That said, I'm a big optimist on Javy turning it around but if he's unable to fix the K rate he's toast. But if Javy is a perennial .240 hitter and, as a result the K's adjust to accommodate that, yeah... he'd be a valuable player. Probably something along the lines of Marlins-era Dan Uggla if I had to guess, but with fewer walks and better defense.
  7. In case people are still keeping track since some suspected Shields would be another target after the Lester signing... I'd be okay with the $22m AAV, but 5 years for a 33 year old sucks.
  8. You're basically gonna be wearing an Oculus Rift and you'll see a bunch of players taking steroids and the only way to advance in the simulation is to look the other way. There will also be a punch out-esque boxing simulator where you fight Alex Rodriguez
  9. Can someone post the gif of Castillo stabbing at a pitch right down the middle that got called a ball please?
  10. Braves get following players back in the Upton deal: Max Fried Jace Peterson Dustin Peterson Mallex Smith So the Padres have acquired: Justin Upton Matt Kemp Will Middlebrooks Wil Myers Derek Norris David Ross Josh Johnson Brandon Morrow And while they've moved a lot of talent in the deal, including some big prospect names (Fried, Turner, etc.), the only full time starter they've given up is Grandal (as far as I can see). And they've still got to move at least two of Smith, Maybin, Quentin, and Veneble. If they move Kemp to 1B they can move Alonso, not that he's very valuable these days. With Middlebrooks at 3B they can move Solarte. Also lets them move Liriano. They've got two 2B in Gyorko and Spangenberg. They've still got Kennedy, Ross, Despaigne, and Cashner in the rotation. They've still got some bullets in the chamber to gain more talent, to say the least. This string of moves has been pretty impressive considering I didn't really think much of them or their system prior to these moves.
  11. I betcha at least two Cubs outfielders with >50 PAs this year will end up putting up a lower OPS than .650. Well then by all means let's add another
  12. Soler had to outproduce Ruggiano's 0.4 even if he had 1/3 the time. Wait, didn't Coghlan outproduce him as well? Ruggiano: 0.4 fWAR Soler: 0.7 fWAR Coghlan: 2.2 fWAR
  13. One-star Yelp reviews of MLB stadiums... http://imgur.com/a/MjhEQ
  14. I couldn't care any less about this contract or the money involved.
  15. Rasmus would be wise to take 1 year. Even if he winds up somewhere in the middle of his 2014 and 2013 seasons it should be enough to warrant a multi year deal the next season
  16. I asked it a few pages ago (or in another thread) but was Bryant's Best Defensive 3B in the PCL award based on legitimate defense or a Rafael Palmiero gold glove type situation? Or were there just no good defensive 3B in that league and Bryant, by chance, happened to be the best of the bunch?
  17. He can hit the ball far Those are all 440 ft or farther. If he can turn it around he's a tremendously valuable asset and I think he should be a primary target.
  18. I know some don't like what he brings to the table but he's only 28, has been up and down enough that he's worth a gamble on the upside of his talent (and wouldn't cost much because of the down year), and if they decide to use Baez to get a bigger piece would allow the Cubs to move Alcantara back to 2B where his bat plays a whole lot better (and where I'm sure his defense is better, too)
