  1. Both of our lefty BP guys (Eyre and Cotts. There aren't anymore right?) Have pitched well this year. Marshall Crap. He is still a starter and my mind.

  3. You're absolutely right. You honestly believe that? Would you have anymore satisfaction as a fan if the Cubs had managed to pull one out in 69 or 75 or 84 or any other year? Who the hell cares? I was commenting more on the bolded part... that at the end of the year, it doesn't mean anything to win your division if you don't win the World Series. That's a little depressing. Surely there must be enjoyment in a good year over a bad year, right? I'd much rather get there and lose every year than be out of it in mid-August. I think it still means a lot to win your division. If you celebrated the last two division titles, like I did, then winning the division sure does mean something.
  4. It's not completely his fault but you have to question the hit and run. Even if you thought it was a worthwhile endeavor to hit and run, doing so with Ramirez, who doesn't steal ever and probably would be easily fooled by Davis' pick off move and with Fuku, who hasn't hit well lately, isn't the best idea. I think it was a poor call too, but it's hardly Lou's fault that Aramis doesn't know how to tell when a pitcher is throwing to first as opposed to throwing home. You're right. I think that the umpire should be blamed for never calling a stupid balk on this guy though.

  6. That really isn't close to not being a balk.
  7. What? You do realize a rundown has taken way too long when the batter makes it to 2nd, right? When it's soto and ramirez and a runner with decent speed, your odds of getting that right aren't very good Rundowns should really only take two throws if it's done right.
  8. If you do what you are supposed to do in a rundown than Young is at first.
  9. The season is going to go back in the good direction starting with that Ted Lilly amazing offensive inning.
  10. meh, if he hurt himself again trying to beat out a infield single I would have been unhappy. And a Lilly steal. Wow
  11. Screw everyone who said we wouldn't score and don't mess with Lilly.
  12. I'm calling a Lillybomb. (And will be wrong)
  13. Uh, sorry but you have no idea what you're talking about. Lilly had those 4 bad starts to begin the year (when his velocity was still down) but has been great since then. He's 9-3 with a 3.82 ERA in 16 starts since then. Tell me what his seaon numbers are again. How many homers has this junk baller given up? It's you who has no idea what they are talking about. Curt Schilling allowed a lot of home runs. That isn't the best way to judge a pitcher.
  14. Streaks like these make me wonder why when I picked a favorite MLB team I had to pick the Cubs.
  15. Lilly is getting everything up, that isn't a good sign.
  16. I pretty much expect that to be the case. I wouldn't mind as long as he goes on his 2-3 week long runs of barely ever getting out
  17. It definitely has aged. When I watched TDK I couldn't wait until the Joker was on screen again it was that good, then I went home and watched the 1989 version of Batman and honestly, I couldn't finish it and I used to think it was a great movie but Batman Begins and The Dark Knight have blown it away in my opinion.
  18. If it gets us turned around, fine... but at the same time, to think one man can mean so much to a team/season. Good thing it was just 6 weeks and not a season-ending injury! One man probably doesn't mean a whole lot in baseball, but think if Soriano was in one of his hot streaks where he hits home runs in what seems like ever at bat. We probably would have won two more games to start out the second half.
  19. This is such an interesting discussion. The fact that machines would never make mistakes when making calls would probably be good for the game but for some reason, I don't like it. The thing is though, can we really guarantee that the machines wouldn't make mistakes. I haven't known a piece of technology that has preformed its task perfectly all the time.
  20. I hope that his DL stint is the reason for the Cubs offensive struggles. He's been gone for 6 weeks and we still hold the lead. If he can spark the Cubs offense again, that would be great for the second half of the season.
