  1. Prior to today everything was basically give him next year to be in the NIT maybe contend for the bubble and by Year 4 you've got to be in the tournament or else. Now that's not realistic and I'm not sure what the hell you do to sell tickets or raise money to get a practice facility. The problem is we're left with a depleted roster in April. The only thing you can find at this point are JUCO's who usually come with some baggage. He's a long-term build guy, not a quick fix guy. The only thing he can do at this point is patch a few spots for this year and go insane for the '10 class. Except he's not going to be able to bring in top 100 players. He has to be wondering why the hell he left Butler. We're completely effed. This sucks. I kind of miss Alford right now.
  2. At this point he's probably going to stick around. He still has lots of time left on his contract and I can't see the University wanting to pay him especially because I think we are still paying Alford. If we hire another coach we would be paying 3 guys for a garbage program. I'm not to keen on the financial stuff though so I might be way off. Oh, I'm sure he survives to coach next season, I just don't know if he can survive a last place finish next year(which looks really likely if all these transfers/bootings take place. And I'm way more down on IU than most.) It takes awhile for Iowa to pull the trigger on a coach. Alford was here for a lot longer than most people thought he should have been although they haven't gone through a stretch like this and if the rumored events actually take place Iowa is going to struggle to win 5 games (total) next year and 5 may be too high of a mark.

  4. I'm strongly considering rooting for Wartburg or something.
  5. Same here. What an embarrassment. Oh well, another win. Keep Deng as far away from this team as possible. 10 years after Jordan and without a contender in all that time, the Bulls haven't built that crowd around fans who are in tune with basketball etiquette. The promo is part of the dizzying array of sideshows the Bulls use to draw those fans. Unless we want a much emptier United Center, we'll have to live with a little mindless freebie-ism. That's true. I just wish that they would cheer at some other part in the game at some point.
  6. you were saying? My predictions are never right. Even when they should be.
  7. I'm surprised at how much both Auburn and Florida's crowds are into these games. Especially considering Florida just won two national titles in a row a couple of years ago.
  8. Dammit. PSU's gonna choke.
  9. I hate the United Center fans. I'm glad they didn't get 100.
  10. It's nice to see them outside of Big Ten play. When they play against another team that likes to run, suddenly they're much more fun to watch. They're scoring 20 more ppg in the NIT than they did in Big Ten play. I kind of wish they hadn't lost to Iowa (not really) because I would have loved to have seen what they would have done in the tournament. Their guards are really fun to watch when they are playing well.
  11. Penn St. is making a good case for their NCAA tournament inclusion.
  12. I hope this keeps up. I love beating the Pistons even if they aren't the same team from the last few years.
  13. Is it just me or does Brad Miller look like a heavy smoker.
  14. Charles Barkley is a genius.
  15. You're the second person who said the game was tonight... I was freaking out because I already had plans. Luckily I checked and it's tomorrow :) That's what I meant. I have no idea what day it is.
  16. I have a good feeling about tonight's game. Just sayin'.
  17. I hate that I am watching the Women's tournament to get a taste of March Madness.
  18. I like my Havlat avatar because of my recently blossomed man crush on Martin Havlat.
  19. He also takes some subtle shots at Hawk too, I think. And it is pretty evident he still has a soft spot for the Cubs. I'm sure he does. I don't see how you can closely follow a team for that long and be loved by a lot of that team's fans without still liking that team. Even with the one bad incident.
  20. Apparently I picked Dayton. I didn't even know that.
  21. A 16 seed winning.
  22. me too, though you could argue my bracket is already screwed. I imagine a 16 winning would be devastating to everyone's bracket. That's true. I'd rather see a 16 seed win than win almost any bracket (unless it's one where you make loads of money). Of course the year the 16 win will be the year Iowa is the one seed (like that'll ever happen)
  23. I think it's over now.
