  1. I'm demanding Heyward in any deal w/the Braves involving Harden.
  2. If worse comes to worse (hope not), these players better be available: Harden: Could get a very good prospect in return if he starts pitching like he should. Team like the Angels/Red Sox/Braves would want him. Dempster: Ditto^^. Lee: I'm sure if there was a very good team wanting him who has a legit shot of making a run would want him. Lilly: Some team will need a quality pitcher. Braves make sense. I'm thinking that this is just a slump and we will be fine, but this is now 8 games, and it's horrible. The line-up leaves much to be excited about, and Lou looks like he doesnt give a f***.
  3. We could have a very bright young infield in the future with Vitters at 3rd, the dazzling Castro at SS, and Thomas at 2nd. They all are very good hitters. I know Vitters gets a ton of hype, and I believe someone (Goldstein?) compared him to Joe Mauer with power, but who is Castro comparable to, and who is Thomas comparable to?
  4. If we can't get Peavy, then Hendry better do something. Im talking about signing Furcal AND Bradley + Randy Johnson.
  5. I believe it dexter. I'd imagine we'd sign Furcal and trade Greene though. Somewhere we'd need a LH'er. But adding Dye would be sweet. He' still good. And talk about blockbuster. That's a HUGE deal.
  6. Maybe he will...remember, he posts late at night. Raisin, was that you that he gave the info too? Yes it was.
  7. Donnie, I really want to believe you man. What did your sources tell you then?
  8. This is why you don't believe crap like DonnieD posted. I can't believe some of us believed him.
  9. No, I didn't ask again as I really wasn't in a position to. We really just had a 15 second conversation today, hopefully I will get a chance to get more in depth tomorrow. Donnie, no offense, but colour me cyncial. You may very well be telling the truth, and I want to believe you, but the inner Cub fan in me tells me not to without proof. So I hope you are no offended by this. I will say this: if you and your source is correct and it happens I will glady eat crow. Well, stranger things have happened. I remember we had a random poster swear to us that Zambrano had just been extended and everyone wrote him off (and I think the thread might have been locked), and it ended up happening the next morning. I just don't want to get my hopes up and get them crushed when/if it doesn't happen. Same here..
  10. If we get Peavy... Is he our opening day starter?
  11. I'm watching Peavy highlights on MLB.COM and he's absolutely filthy..
  12. Thanks DonnieD. I'll stop guessing. Just keep us updated man. Peavy Z Harden Dempster Lilly \:D/ \:D/ \:D/
  13. This stuff is just way too exciting ](*,) Hopefully if your source is a Cub and stays with the Cubs, you could give us more info?
  14. Absolutely, I'll provide validation for all of my claims, including pictures if necessary. Do you have any clue when this will go down? And your source must be Demp.
  15. Unfortunately we'll have to settle for Olsen, who could be good. Maybe he could be motivated as he's a die-hard Cubs fan apparently.
  16. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/1267764,CST-SPT-cub08.article
  17. Where'd you read it? BCB, I guess it's on Chicago Sun Times.. Just too depressed after that Bears game to go look.
  18. I just read that were preparing 2 offers with 1 containing Vitters and 1 containing Samardzija.. If this doesn't get done, I'm gonna be sooo pissed. Chicago Cubs, breaking hearts since 1908..
  19. This is horrible. I feel so depressed, it's undescribable. We better make some changes, like getting a real leadoff hitter. It's all easy. Send Soriano, Theriot, and some spects for Reyes. And how are we not gonna be good next year? Care to explain? Hendry will not sit tight with this happening twice.
  20. As much as I love Lee, he needs to go. Lee to the Mariners for prospects Sign Texiera Sign Dunn Sign Wood&Demp to hometown deals Trade Marquis for anything(eat half his salary) Trade Vitters, Ceda, Rundle, Castillo, PTBNL to Arizona for Webb. He's a FA after the 09 season. Let Howry, Edmonds, Blanco all walk. If I'm right, with the departing players, we'd have about 35 mil to spend, and new owners usually make some kind of splash. 1.Soriano 2.Theriot 3.Texiera 4.Ramirez 5.Dunn 6.Derosa 7.Soto 8.Pie/Reed 1.Webb 2.Harden 3.Zambrano 4.Dempster 5.Lilly Obviously, this most likely wont happen, but they need to get a superstar hitter no matter what. Whether it's trading the farm for Holliday, or signing Texiera.
  21. I just want a big time SS. I want Hanley Ramirez. Don't know if the Marlins would trade him but I'd go hard after him. Vitters, Ceda, Theriot, Marshall,+ anyone besides Marmol and Geo. But if Reyes is available, go all out, and do whatever it takes to get him. I agree, sell high on Theriot. I can see a team like Giants offer one of their better prospects like their young pitcher Sosa, or the Mariners. Who knows. If the Mets don't pick up Delgado's option, then we have to go for Reyes. Give em Lee+others. We'd then have to get a guy like Texiera, or maybe Delgado.
  22. Len. you're my hero. Your emotional calls are awesome. It makes the moment so much better. Never change!
  23. I love Lee as much as anyone, but I'd definitely consider moving him if it meant signing Texiera. Im sure a team like Seattle, San Francisco, Cleveland, Toronto would love to have him. I'd want Balentien from Seattle, a young pitcher from S.F.(Sosa?), Cleveland doesn't make me happy, and Toronto would have to give us one of Mcgowan/Marcum or Rios.
  24. It's going to be a boring day or 2, so why not do something fun? 2008 winter meetings. Just won the WS. Cuban is the owner. Free Agents of Importance 1. Dempster 2.Wood 3.Johnson 4.Edmonds 5.Blanco My plan would be to resign Demp. I would then attempt to sign Wood to a deal no longer than 2 years, 3rd year a team option. He is basically the face of our franchise, and I can't see him asking for an unreasonable deal. Whover doesn't get K-Rod is gonna go all-out for Woody. If Wood asks for something unreasonble, I let him walk. Sign Juan Cruz- Bust for us as a starter, turned out to be a good reliever for the D-Backs. Electric stuff. If Wood's gone, we sign Cruz, insert into Marmol's spot, move Marmol to closer. I let Edmonds walk, and keep Johnson, but in a backup/utility OF role. Trade for Matt Holliday-This may seem like a longshot, but I don't think it is that big of one. It's been reported that Colorado is probably going to rebuild this offseason. It will take a lot for Holliday, but with Lee's power outage, it would be worth it. I'd do- Ceda, Pie, Rundle, Marshall, and a PTBNL. With Wood leaving, we get 2 type a picks, so it wouldn't be too bad. It would suck losing Ceda, but Cashner takes his role. I then sign Affeltd to be our other lefty in the BP. I ship off Marquis, and eat half/most of the salary. If Marquis can't be traded, I try trading Lilly, and you don't eat his contract. Hopefully we can work something out with Harden as well. 2009 Chicago Cubs 1.Soriano 2.Fukudome 3.Holliday 4.Ramirez 5.Lee 6.Derosa 7.Soto 8.Theriot Too many righties. Maybe they try for Dunn. Lou complains abot Lefty power. Starting Rotation 1.Zambrano 2.Harden 3.Dempster 4.Lilly 5.Samardzija Bullpen Closer: Marmol SU: Cruz SU: Affeldt MR:Gaudin, Cotts, Wuertz, etc...
  25. What is Rosa's future? A middle of the order hitter who's a perrenial All-Star? Haven't heard much about him until recently. All I know is that he looks like a B.A. in his picture. And Vitters is an absolute beast.. MOVE HIM UP.
