  1. Keep in mind the Lou/Soriano cover is not the baseball preview cover. True. After this offseason its going to be hard for the Cubs to fly under the radar.
  2. These covers just show how wrong they are with predictions. I'm glad they didn't say we were winning anythng.
  3. Who was on it last year? http://i.cnn.net/si/si_online/covers/images/2006/0403_large.jpg He also went on the DL and missed out on the MVP. I'd been with you if it had shown the whole team. 8-)
  4. No, just the opposite. The hearing was avoided so there should be no bad feelings. An extension should be completed by opening day.
  5. FYI, $12.5M may not be the figure. It is in the neighborhood. I also heard $12.4M. BTW, I think this is a big victory for Hendry because he didn't compromise his belief that Zambrano's agent filed too high a number. Hendry didn't even have to meet them halfway. Anyway, I exect a 5 year extension before opening day.
  6. The Score is reporting they settled for $12.5M
  7. 3pm CT
  8. Just to be clear, published reports say today is the day position players must report. Tomorrow is the full workout.
  9. This is a little off the subject of Kerry's weight but I am encouraged by what he's saying lately. He seems very confident in his health. Trib I also found this interesting:
  10. LOL, yeah, I was just adding that to my post. Count on $32.
  11. New Era will stop making caps out of wool because they absorb sweat: They will also cost a little more. USAToday
  12. Turning against him? Who's doing that? He hasn't shown up early to spring training, and it immediately turns into "well he looked out of shape to me" and "he's not early? that's not impressing anyone". It's useless garbage and it hasn't even been a week yet. Can't comment on the out of shape thing cause I wasn't the one who said that, but what's so "garbage" about saying that he's not impressing anyone by being the only person who isn't early? Whether people want to acknowledge it or not, being the last person to arrive doesn't look good. Especially when all of your other teammates get there before they have to. I said he looked out of shape. His face looked twice as big at his press conference on Comcastsportsnet. He may have lost the weight by now but that was my last impression of him. hopefully he's on steroids or whatever and he hits .350 this year LOL, he's our best overall hitter and since they're testing now I hope he's clean.

  14. Being late isn't garbage. If that's the case, why have deadlines? Like I said, unless he's already made arrangements with Piniella to come in later than everyone else it's not a positive. This goes for Aramis, Ronny, or anyone else. I didn't like it when Sammy used to stroll in late (and his teammates didn't either).
  15. My comments have nothing to do with "hustle." The fact remains that he's, reportedly, the only person on the 40 man roster who hasn't arrived. I don't care how much money he gave up to re-sign with the team. Getting into camp on time has nothing to do with money so, unless he has a good reason, it can't be a positive.
  16. He gave up 40 million dollars to stay with the Cubs. He can show up April 1 for all I care I disagree. I hope he made arrangements with Piniella to show up at some point tonight (if he hasn't already made an apperance. A la Carlos calling Lou on the 14th to tell him he'd be there by 8pm). Aramis needs to be in camp on time to workout and get re-focused. Besides, he looked out of shape to me at his press conference. Whether he's a day or two late to camp or not isn't going to change that. Either he was working out and getting in shape at home, or he wasn't. The longer he isn't there the longer he needs to workout.

  18. According to Gail Fischer, on SportsNite, Aramis hasn't been seen yet... :? Today is check-in day and tomorrow is full team workouts
  19. I thought the same thing.

  21. I love the Cubs and while it might sound like blasphemy, I don't care about Wrigley Field. The Cubs could play at Thillens Stadium for all I care. I just want them to win a World Series in the next 2-3 years! If selling advertising at Wrigley Field will truly help the team increase its revenue for payroll, so we can afford to keep and acquire new talent, I am all for it.
  22. It's somewhat settling to read that Zambrano and Hendry have spoken directly. So when Carlos says he feels "85-90% sure an agreement will be reached" he isn't talking from a one sided perspective: Link
  23. Thanks! I'm watching Lou now. It was on Sunday Conversation but I didn't see it then.
  24. Hendry and Zambrano's his agents were scheduled to meet yesterday (in person or over the phone) and again today.
  25. I started a thread about this viewtopic.php?t=38510
