  1. LOL, I'm not convinced that Maddux wouldn't but I don't think either starter will.
  2. It's too important of a game to expect anything to happen early (if at all). However, tomorrow is the final game in the season series. If it's a blowout, either way, the managers will be taking the best players out long before the lowest bullpen man can come in and do damage. If it's a close game, revenge will have to wait until next season. Add them to the list that already includes Tim Hudson and Edgar Renteria.
  3. Tribune Seriously though, if they were to decide to throw at someone. Who would they throw at? Greene, Gonzalez or Giles would be my guess. There is no real standout. Mike Cameron? Why didn't he start today, is he hurt?
  4. LOL, here we go: Tribune
  5. "I would hit one of his teammates in the ribs" isn't really bad, but it looks terrible in light of the incident today. Disagree. No pitcher ever admits, publicly, that he hit a guy on purpose. They always lean on "the pitch got away." It's an unspoken rule of retaliation in baseball but for Peavy to be quoted talking about revenge is ridiculous. It's no coincidence that DLee was hit.
  6. I quoted it already in this thread. In essence, Peavy said he would drill one of Soriano's teammates so that the guy would go back and tell him to run to first base.
  7. It was a pitcher's day. I'm not going to say "tip your cap" but coming into the game, the Padres have the best pitching staff in the MLs. Their bullpen has been superb so it's not really a surprise that they surrendered no runs. It's also noteworthy that the Cubs pitching has only yielded 2 runs in this series (to their 4).
  8. I have it saved on my TiVo. It looks as if DLee says something like, "You did that on purpose." To which Young says, "Just go to first base." Although, "first base" could've been "[expletive] base" DLee says, "What!" and then Young looks to say, "Look, I'm not the only guy.........." at which point DLee swings. I'm a bit suprised DLee swung at Young. I figured it would have to be a personal attack for him to do something like that. Young definitely mouths "...throw again." Everytime I see it I want someone to hit Jake Peavy. What the hell was he running in and tackling DLee for? Idiot.
  9. Well, Barrett was on top of him wasn't he? I'm sure that MB was punching him in the ribs the entire time. LOL, I hope so. Gearld Perry grabbed him by the neck and pulled him down. Another look shows that Peavy was pulled off the ground with redness to the side of his face and a few seconds later, and a little farther away, Jacque is pulled up and he was looking a little wobbly too. Who knows what went on in that pile.
  10. Well, Barrett was on top of him wasn't he? I'm sure that MB was punching him in the ribs the entire time. LOL, I hope so. Gearld Perry grabbed him by the neck and pulled him down.
  11. I'm not sure that is a great idea. I know personally I would not be very happy if someone went "out on a limb" accusing me of something without actual facts. If there's footage of you mouthing it, then it's totally called for. What footage?? What did he say!? you get a pretty good view on the highlights MLB.com has up right now. I couldn't pick up what he was saying. Whatever he said made Derrek turn and say, "what!?" I can't find any, can you link me to it? it's on MLB.com's main page. here's another look The Fight this view isn't so great and the quality is meh. Who is the Padre in the warmup jacket that grabs Lee from behind in a bear hug and sets off the second incident? jake peavy was the spineless d-bag that kept things goin cuz he grabs lee from behind....then barrett jumps on him and perry puts him in a headlock I hope Peavy took some blows while in that pile.
  12. I just watched it again and Young definitely says something to the effect of "you better get going or I might have to throw it again." That's when DLee took a swing at him. Beforehand, Lee appeared to be asking Young if the pitch got away. I probably would have gone after the guy too. edit: the clip on MLB.com doesn't show the reverse angle that was also on WGN (but I have it on tape). You can read Young's lips and he was threatening to hit DLee again.
  13. Other than Verlander (the only game they've lost between those teams) they faced the back end of those rotations. They also lost 2 of 3 to the Rangers (needing extra innings to avoid a sweep).
  14. If Young makes that pitch at Soriano's head, he knows he's kicked out for sure and will probably have to sit by a phone awaiting a suspension call from Bud Selig. Especially in light of Jake Peavy's comments. But by throwing at Lee, Young has a chance to get away with it. If he just shuts his yap instead of jawing with Lee, he probably stays in the game with a warning issued to both benches (like what should have happened with Ted Lilly a week earlier). That's why he threw at Lee. Actually, throwing at DLee (and not Soriano) is exactly in line with what Peavy said. He was advocating hitting one of Sori's teammates so that the guy would go back and tell him to run the bases:
  15. I'm not sure that's true. I think Lee wanted to get at Young but, in watching the replay several times, I think he saw a Padres player/or coach running in at him and attempted to swerve to avoid him but the guy grabbed Lee from behind then Jacque and Barrett jumped on the guy's back and the pile went down... I don't think it's anything that will cost him extra time but I think that's what happened. I think that guy was Jake Peavy. I'd have to check the replay again though to be sure. Peavy was ejected, so it'd make sense. Tribune
  16. I'm hoping Maddux gets lit up like six hippies with a bong and a full stash of weed! couldn't agree more.
  17. Hopefully, the Cubs bludgeon Maddux with runs! I want to win this series.
  18. I'm not sure that's true. 19. z's the best. he may have gotten out there late, but once he did and started going ballistic that fight broke up real real quick. never fight a 6'4 260lb south american who talks to himself and has a chipped tooth...dude is loco AP/Tribune I think he was interested in a little more than separating people.
  20. DLee with get some kind of suspension but Aramis is eligible to return in 6 days (22nd). Lee will no doubt appeal so there really shouldn't be a situation where both Lee and Ramirez are out at the same time. Plus, D. Ward can be activated in three days (19th) so he can play first base. I'm not going to worry too much about the offense. The Cubs have won the majority of their games since Aramis has been out of the lineup and much of that time DLee was ice cold. Their pitching has supported them during this stretch; the Cubs have the lowest team ERA in the NL during June. Who knows how long the appeals process will go on... Barrett seemingly waited forever before he got his punishment last season and Kerry Wood waited a few weeks before he got his suspension a couple of seasons ago.
  21. While funny, Z wasn't whipping anyone with his belt. He said in the postgame press conference that he had been changing his uniform, like he typically does every three innings, and was in the process of getting dressed when he ran out.
  22. The WGN video of the fight (most of it) is on MLB.com
  23. Relax, he gets to appeal during which time he can play. Aramis is back in 6 days.
