  1. I also believe that Dempster can be a good closer again. It seems to me that once these guys started to free fall (months ago) it affected everyone regardless of what they'd done in the past. If the Cubs were in the wildcard or division race and had played better ball all year long some of these close games might have had different outcomes simply due to them having some real importance. It kind of feels like losing has been contagious and if we had been winning, that might have become contagious?
  2. I have to say that this thread has really brightened my day. I came on here wanting to vent about last night and I've put it behind me now. 1998 was a great year. I think that I can tell you exactly where I was on about 15 of Sosa's home runs and several other moments from that year. It really doesn't even seem that long ago.
  3. I agree. The Farnsworth tackle was the coolest I can remember.
  4. Nomar Alou Matt Clement Matt Stairs
  5. I had driven about 1,500 miles to catch a few games and the afternoon that I arrived I heard on the radio that Sammy had sneezed, hurt his back, and wasn't going to play. I was pissed!
  6. I too was at that game and may have a ticket stub at home. I was sitting about 10 feet from where Alou's home run ball landed. WOW!!
  7. Only if they fire him so that he can take over for Dusty.
  8. Speaking of Brenly quotes today...He was reffering to the Cubs patients at the plate and said that the opposing pitchers "could throw the rosin bag and the Cubs would swing at it". How true.
