I like the way it has been, but that's probably pretty predictable since I've probably made heavier use of prospects than anyone else under the current system. yea, but if you look at some of the new managers, they are kind of hosed by the current system. at this point, the prospect rosters are pretty well developed to the point where we could probably just do it by waivers. the sticking point is, what is a prospect and what isn't when it comes to the draft? Should we make it like Rule 5 - if you draft them they have to stay on your major league roster all year? Or is there some other rule that would work? I dunno about Rule 5, lets just say that anyone who meets the requirements to be in the minor leagues is a prospect. They cannot be drafted in the major league draft. That would be a valid definition for purposes of this league. That would allow us to work out the specifics for a minor league draft while also beginning the major league draft. no, I don't like that because players like david price then couldn't be picked and that would be silly (not that these guys are generally available anyway). A variation might be to say that if you draft a player that still is minor league eligible in the major league phase you have to keep him on your major league roster or release him unless he actually gets sent down to the minor leagues. What if he starts in the minors though? If minor leaguers are going to be drafted in the ML draft, there has to be a rule 5 type thing implemented I guess. That's the only way to keep it fair. That way, the player takes up a roster space or has to be dropped.
