  1. Prior threw again today, as well.
  2. Kerry's supposed to throw as much as three innings today to live batters (not sure why he called it simulated batting practice).
  3. Prior was able to play catch today, which is a big first step. According to Rothschild, he'll play some more catch tomorrow and then see how it is from there. As for Kerry, he'll throw a simulated game in a few days.
  4. Update on Kerry (read the article for plenty of comments about his mechanics: Remmy:
  5. Tickets have been released for the 3-game series against Toronto. There aren't any great infield seats available, but there are bleacher seats.
  6. From Cubs.com:
  7. Cubs.com also said 30, so I'm guessing ESPN got it wrong. Kerry's bullpen session went well today, although Mazur didn't say how many pitches he threw. He'll take two days off before throwing two more bullpen sessions. He thinks he'll be ready for a rehab start after that. Prior's arm range is continuing to improve by the day.
  8. Kerry threw a 30-pitch bullpen session earlier today and everything went well.
  9. Kerry's progressing well. He threw a few flat ground sessions and hasn't felt any pain in a while. He took the day off today and will throw again tomorrow. He'll get on the mound for the first time this weekend sometime.
  10. According to Cubs.com, the injury is a "left hand fifth finger non-displaced distal phalanx fracture." In other words, he hurt his pinky. Hopefully it's not too bad of a fracture.
  11. According to IowaCubs.com, Walker has rejoined Chicago. I'd have to assume he gets activated for tonight's game.
  12. My guess is that tomorrow is the best option. If he returned to Chicago tonight after the day game in Iowa and was activated tomorrow, that would be a day and a half off for Todd. If he's activated Thursday and plays tomorrow, he'd have to travel to Chicago after a night game with the I-Cubs but be rested enough to play a Thursday day game at Wrigley.
  13. Todd Walker DHed and batted third today for Iowa: Walker's 1st AB (0 on, 2 outs): -low and away, 1-0 -grounded to first, unassisted Walker's 2nd AB (0 on, 1 out): -outside, 1-0 -foul, 1-1 -ball, 2-1 -foul, 2-2 -flied to shallow left Walker's 3rd AB (leading off the 6th): -flied to the track in left center Walker's 4th AB (0 on, 2 outs): -taken, 0-1 -swing and a miss, 0-2 -grounded past the pitcher and sneaks it into center for his first hit of the day
  14. Walker went 3-5 tonight with an infield single and a double off of a diving SS's glove that bounced towards the line in shallow left. He also had a sharp single to right on a 3-1 pitch. He worked the count a little better. My guess is that he'll fly to Chicago after the day game in Iowa tomorrow but won't be activated until Wednesday.
  15. Z's almost as bad as me:
  16. that's certainly good news. My guess is that he'll stay at Iowa for tomorrow's game. He'd probably be too tired to play the day game tomorrow for the Cubs. Unless they want to just give him the day off. Hopefully he'll be in the starting lineup Monday night against the Astros. By the way, his defense sounds fine. He made a few nice plays tonight and has been solid during the entire stint.
  17. Walker finally breaks through tonight. He collected a bloop single in his first AB, crushed one that hit off the top of the wall for a double, and then smacks an RBI double to the track. He wasn't able to drive in a run with runners at 2nd and 3rd with one away, but he's 3-5 tonight.
  18. Holy cow. Now the Cubs are saying that Zambrano's injury was not related to swinging the bat or anything baseball-related. It was his computer! Apparently, he's developed a bit of carpal tunnels syndrome from being on his computer so much this winter. It's NOT tennis elbow. And I thought I'd heard everything...
  19. How dare you forget the his 4-pitch walk in his 5th AB!? At least he had one hard hit ball that could easily have gone for a single if it was hit a foot or two to the left or right. Still, he only saw 7 pitches in his first 4 ABs and he was retired on the first pitch in two of them.
  20. The latest on Barrett:
  21. Walker is not at Iowa tonight, but he is expected to make another rehab start tomorrow.
  22. There hasn't been any mention of him. He had a sore neck, I believe, a couple of weeks ago and that kept him out of a couple of games, but I'm not sure if that's related to what's going on now.
  23. Walker isn't playing for Iowa tonight, so I suspect he's back in Chicago. Update on Barrett: Also according to the article, the decision on Borowski has not been made yet and Remmy's status is "unknown."
  24. Everyone's just O.K. with this? Nobody thinks throwing Z so soon after he was pulled with elbow pain might worsen his problem? It was something that came up quickly and he never felt any "pain," so it's quite possible that their conclusion that it was caused by his swinging is correct. To fix that, he won't be taking batting practice anymore. His side-session went just fine and pitching on 6 days of rest should be okay for him. There's always a chance that it could hurt, but I don't see this as much of a huge risk.
