Because Derrek Lee's OBP is .457. .... and he leads the world in home runs, no ? 1 every 12 ABs, yes. But what about the other 11? If you were to take HRs out of the equation, Lee's OBP is still going to be higher than Burny's. Lee & Burnitz combined get on base more than Lee alone, don't they ??? It's RBI potential vs. OBP potential. More than likely, Burnitz is going to make an out. I'll take my chances with Ramirez behind Lee's OBP with a better chance to drive him in than trying to get both on, especially with OBP guys batting 1-2. Burnitz batting 4th just makes it less likely that Ramirez would come up with the top of the order guys on. And a .382 OBP for June isn't the largest sample size. He put up an OBP .101 points lower in May.
