  1. Perhaps I'm painting with broad brush strokes, but lefties are usually finesse types that works all the edges of the strike zone. Naturally this would give the Cub offense fits, given their impatient and aggressive approach.
  2. Thank you! :)
  3. Hey, gents, a question about one-game playoffs..... I remember back in 2005 that the Yankees and Red Sox both finished with 95 wins but the Yanks were crowned the division champs because they won the season series against Boston. Why couldn't the same apply to the Cubs and Brewers if they tie at the end of this year? Why would there need to be a one-game playoff if the Cubs won the season series against the Brewers?
  4. Seconded.
  5. Thank you, Cecil Cooper, for not purposefully tanking a la TLR.
  6. 80% of me believes it'll end in a one-game playoff, 10% the Cubs winning outright, and the last 10% the Brewers winning outright.
  7. Probably the same kind when they laid down for Houston the last week of 2004, to help the Astros win the WC.
  8. Maybe it's something as simple as the other NL Central clubs getting sick of 1/2 their home crowd being Cub fans, so they want kick the Cubs right where it counts.
  9. After a night like tonight, I want these losers to choke so badly and miss the playoffs so the players, manager, coaches, and front office have all winter to sit and think about why they lost...and then do something about it.
  10. Jacque Jones, POS.
  11. Essentially? No, all the way At least he wasn't a complete negative like Floyd coming out from the bench to hit into a clutch double play. your right, the way floyd has been hitting he should have started. why murton was in the lineup boggles me Murton looked like a little kid out there, though. I don't know whats happened to his mental toughness, he gets a strike out and then looks like a fool the rest of the time. No one on this team has any mental toughness.
  12. I WANT TO DO KERRY SAYERS 3x!!!!! :D :D :D
  13. Would be a nice time for Kendall to approach Lou and say "Skip, I'm hurting the team now, so you better put Soto in there".
  14. Way to show a killer instinct tonight... [expletive] losers.
  15. All right, you sucks, let's score some runs!!!
  16. Because it keeps Hendry around? This topic was already addressed in Derwood's thread a few days ago, so maybe we should move it here, but I don't understand why anyone thinks Hendry is fired if the Cubs miss the playoffs. Hendry's going nowhere after this season given how late the sale will take place. Unless his ticker gives out like it almost did last offseason.
  17. Because it keeps Hendry around?
  18. Not sue why everyone wants Hendry out of town. Sure, he likes to spend the big bucks, but his main aquisitions have done their jobs as well as they were expected to. I'll let others get into the specifics, but suffice to say that Hendry has demonstrated an ineptitude towards building a perennially strong pennant contender as well as an indifference towards quantitative measurements of talent.
